While there are even more All-Star Game-related events throughout San Diego on Sunday, the focus shifts to Petco Park this afternoon with the playing of the SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game followed by the All-Star Legends & Celebrity Softball game.
The Futures Game will begin at 4 p.m. and will be followed by the softball game starting around 7:30 p.m. Following those games, there will be an invitation-only MLB.com All-Star Bash at the Convention Pavilion.
Padres fans will have plenty to see in the Futures Game. Top Padres' prospects Hunter Renfroe, Manuel Margot and Carlos Asuaje will make their Petco Park debut Sunday in the game also telecast on MLB.com and MLB Network. Outfielder Renfroe will play for the United States team while center fielder Margot and second baseman Asuaje will play for the World Team.
As for the softball game lineup, former Padres Trevor Hoffman, Rickey Henderson, David Wells, Ozzie Smith and Rollie Fingers will appear along with Vladimir Guerrero, Fred Lynn, Tim Raines and Andre Dawson. The list of stars in the game includes Jamie Foxx, J.K. Simmons, Drew Brees, Mark Paul Gosselaar, Jennie Finch and Landon Donovan.
The gates at Petco Park open to the public at 2 p.m. in time to see batting practice and the teams take infield.
Meanwhile, a full slate of other activities are scheduled today starting with the The Color Run MLB All-Star five-kilometer that started at 7 a.m. at Waterfront Park.
FanFest opens at 9 a.m. for its third day and closes at 8 p.m. at the Convention Center. The list of players involved in autograph sessions today include former Padres Gaylord Perry, Heath Bell, Andy Ashby, Greg Vaughn, Gary Sheffield, Scott Linebrink and Damian Jackson plus Ferguson Jenkins and Dale Murphy.
FanFest tickets are $35 for adults and $30 for senior citizens and kids 2-12. On Saturday and Sunday, military tickets are $12.
FanFest features interactive exhibits - skill areas for running, throwing and hitting -- as well as displays from the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, N.Y., and the Negro Leagues Hall of Fame in Kansas City. The history of the San Diego Padres is also chronicled.
Additionally, the MLB All-Star Week Block Party opens on J Street at noon and runs through 6 p.m.
There will again be youth baseball and softball games throughout the day at Robb Field in Ocean Beach and at Play Ball Park in front of the Hilton Bayfront Hotel starting at 10:30 a.m. The High School Home Run Derby will be at Petco Park this morning while the Wiffle Ball Series continues throughout the day.
Plus Padres and Major League dignitaries will be on hand for the dedication of the refurbished youth ballpark at Mountain View Park (11 a.m.) and the Starlight Fun Center Donation at Rady Children's Hospital (1 p.m.).
