It starts with grand marshals Trevor Hoffman and Dave Winfield, it ends with the Commissioner's Trophy, and in between will be 68 of the best players in Major League Baseball on their way to a ballgame.
The best ride in baseball is coming to downtown San Diego with the 12th annual MLB All-Star Red Carpet Show presented by Chevrolet on July 12. Elected players, along with coaching staffs and many family members, will hop aboard red, white or blue Chevrolet Silverado and Colorado vehicles for a free parade en route to the 87th All-Star Game presented by MasterCard.

Leading the way will be Hoffman, a seven-time All-Star closer who spent 16 of his 18 big league seasons with the Padres, and Winfield, the Hall of Famer who spent the first eight of his 22 Major League seasons in San Diego and went to 12 consecutive All-Star Games.
"Trevor and I, Major League Baseball and the Padres are going to show everyone else what an All-Star Game is all about," Winfield said of the pair's overall role as All-Star Ambassadors.
The National League and American League All-Star managers, Terry Collins of the Mets and Ned Yost of the Royals, will follow Hoffman and Winfield, leading their teams through the streets in Camaro convertibles.

Players will travel on a 100-percent polypropylene carpet that will be recycled after its use.
"This is what the All-Star Game is all about, the fans," said White Sox third baseman Todd Frazier, who rode a Silverado pickup in the parade each of the past two years while with Cincinnati. "It's just a lot of fun. It's a big red carpet, and I think that's pretty cool. Everybody's dressed up, looking good."
"It's awesome, man," Rays pitcher Chris Archer said. "It's something -- just the whole experience itself is something you can't imagine even in your wildest dreams."
The route for the MLB All-Star Red Carpet Show presented by Chevrolet is as follows:
From the Manchester Grand Hyatt Hotel, players will be driven across West Harbor Drive onto Market Street, and continue on Market Street until turning right onto Union Street. Then they turn left onto Island Avenue and travel six blocks until turning right onto 5th Avenue. After two blocks, the vehicles will turn left onto K Street and continue until they reach 7th Avenue, where players will enter Petco Park via the Gaslamp Gate.

With the outcome of the All-Star Game determining which league gains have home-field advantage in this fall's 112th World Series, the Commissioner's Trophy given to the World Series champion and crafted by Tiffany & Co. is traditionally on display in the last vehicle. Merchandise giveaways will take place and Major League Baseball club mascots will be throughout the route to interact with fans.
Parking downtown for the parade and All-Star Game will be extremely limited and is expected to sell out early. Fans are strongly encouraged to utilize public transportation. MTS will provide additional special-event trolley service, and multiple trolley stations are located within a few blocks of the parade route.
Southbound Coaster trains will depart Oceanside station at 7:42 a.m., 9:43 a.m., 11:08 a.m. and 1:50 p.m. (all times PT). Free park-and-ride parking lots are located along Trolley and Coaster lines, including more than 5,000 spaces at Qualcomm Stadium.
The free lunchtime event is always the best chance for most fans in the host city to get up close and personal with the players they will be watching in the big game. Yankees reliever Dellin Betances, who rode in last year's parade along with wife Janisa, called it "an awesome experience for the fans to see you driving down the red carpet on the way to the stadium."
