Friedman talks journey from finance to Rays to LA

June 12th, 2018

Looking back on his first two years as general manager of the Devil Rays, Andrew Friedman says, "It was not lost on me that objectively I was probably the worst general manager in sports history."
That evaluation didn't hold for long, as Friedman led Tampa Bay to an AL East title in 2008 and three more postseason appearances before departing for Los Angeles. On this week's episode of Executive Access, the Dodgers' president of baseball operations talks with MLB.com executive reporter Mark Feinsand about transitioning from finance to baseball, the unique challenges of working in one of baseball's biggest markets and whether he's gotten over Game 7 of last year's World Series.

On Executive Access, Feinsand provides a unique look at the people building Major League teams by engaging in candid interviews with front-office personnel from around MLB. Each week, you'll find out how they broke into the game, why they do what they do and how they envision the future of baseball. Look out for new episodes on Tuesdays.
