Andruw Jones to take on his Phillies rivals at MLBX: All-Star 3-on-3

When Phillies legends Ryan Howard, Jimmy Rollins, and Shane Victorino return to Citizens Bank Park, bat in hand, to take part in MLBx: All-Star 3-on-3, there will be a familiar foe going up against them. Former Braves slugger, 2026 Hall of Famer and longtime rival Andruw Jones will be suiting up for the modern take on a home run derby, which rewards players for both home runs and defensive catches.

"I’ve experienced this format before and know how much energy and excitement it brings," Jones said. "It’s a format that rewards athleticism, quick thinking and big moments, so I’m looking forward to leading the Braves team and competing against some great friends and former rivals. Philadelphia fans are passionate, and I think they’re going to love what MLBx brings to All-Star Sunday."

While this is the first time MLBx will be part of All-Star Sunday, MLB has hosted iterations of the co-ed event at Major League and Minor League ballparks, college stadiums, and in conjunction with Major League Baseball domestic and international competitions. Jones has previously competed in these events, displaying the same skillset that put him on the path for Cooperstown and that are rewarded in MLBx.

Each player will have one two-minute at-bat during a three-inning game, while the opposing team will set up their three players in the outfield. Teams earn a point for each home run and a point for each catch. Bonus points can be earned by hitting balls through a center-field target placed above the outfield fence or calling for a hot streak of five swings where offensive and defensive points count double. At the end of a game, the team with the most points wins.

With the four team captains now set, the rest of the rosters will soon be announced. Tickets for All-Star Sunday, which will include the All-Star Futures Game and MLBx, can be purchased at AllStarGame.com. Follow @mlbxofficial or visit MLB.com/MLBx for the latest updates.
