TORONTO -- Angels reliever Cam Bedrosian will be sidelined indefinitely due to a blood clot in his upper right arm, the club announced on Wednesday. Bedrosian stopped his throwing program over the weekend and underwent a CT angiogram this week.
He will see a vascular specialist at which time the club will update Bedrosian's status further.
"I think any time you have a young pitcher that has an issue that is lingering, you want to make sure that you check all the boxes and make sure that everything is taken care of," Angels manager Mike Scioscia said before Wednesday's game against the Blue Jays.
"You're always concerned about every player when they're banged up."
The 24-year-old right-hander was in the middle of a solid third season with the Angels posting an impressive 1.12 ERA with 11.4 strikeouts per nine innings and 3.1 walks per nine in 40 1/3 innings. He has not pitched since an Aug. 3 appearance against the Athletics, which saw him surrender an earned run on two hits while walking three in just one-third of an inning.
Bedrosian was placed on the 15-day disabled list on Aug. 9, retroactive to Aug. 4, and had been throwing in an attempt to make a return to the Angels' bullpen.
