ANAHEIM -- The Angels and Special Olympics Southern California will host the sixth annual Gold Ball Mystery Bag event at Angel Stadium on Saturday, between 5:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. at the Home Plate Gate hats in front of the ballpark.
The wives of Angels players, as well as several Special Olympics athletes, will sell the bags for $40 each, and offer $5 raffle tickets (five tickets for $20) for other autographed items. Each bag contains a baseball autographed by an Angels player or coach, while supplies last, and 12 bags contain baseballs wrapped in gold paper, which can be exchanged for four tickets to an upcoming Angels game and the opportunity to meet the player who signed the ball during batting practice.
The event is being led by Kristin Weaver, who is right-hander Jered Weaver's wife. Kristin has a background in special education as a classroom aide and substitute teacher. She met Weaver when both were at Long Beach State. Jered has been a Special Olympics Ambassador since the 2010 season.

The proceeds from the event will benefit Special Olympics Southern California and the Angels Baseball Foundation. There is a two-bag limit per person at the event. No ticket purchase for Saturday's game is required.
Special Olympics Southern California, which was founded in 1969 by Olympic decathlon gold medalist Rafer Johnson, helps more than 17,000 athletes with intellectual disabilities throughout the region through sport, education and athlete health.
