LOS ANGELES -- The Angels might have to reconfigure their infield for Opening Day with Ian Kinsler slowed by a groin injury.
Manager Mike Scioscia did not portray the injury as serious on Tuesday night, although he was taking a wait-and-see attitude into Wednesday's off-day, when Kinsler would be reassessed.

"We're just erring on the side of caution right now and keeping him out of these games," Scioscia said following the Angels' 4-3 loss to the Dodgers in the exhibition-season finale, which was called in the bottom of the fifth after a pipe burst at Dodger Stadium, flooding the warning track in foul territory on the third-base side, just beyond the Dodgers' dugout.
Kinsler last played Sunday against the Dodgers, collecting a double in three official at-bats. Scioscia said his veteran came out of that game with tightness.
Kinsler will test the injury at Angel Stadium on Wednesday morning before the team travels to Oakland in advance of Thursday's season opener.
"He'll work out at 11 o'clock, and we'll get an idea of where he is," Scioscia said. "But he's made a lot of progress."
Roster for opener takes shape
Angels general manager Billy Eppler announced a flurry of roster moves after Tuesday night's exhibition finale.

Right-hander/designated hitter Shohei Ohtani was signed and officially selected to the roster, right-hander Luke Bard made the Opening Day roster, as did infielder Jefry Marte and right-hander Noe Ramirez. Right-hander Felix Pena was optioned, catcher Carlos Perez was designated for assignment and infielder Chris Carter was notified he did not make the club.
Heaney impressive in rehab
Left-hander Andrew Heaney threw pitches from a mound Tuesday, as well as from 120 feet as he recovers from elbow inflammation.
"Andrew threw the ball really well," Scioscia said. "That's a good sign, and we will continue to move forward with him."
The Angels are expected to use a six-man rotation this season, partly to ease the workload for Ohtani, who started just once per week in Japan. That six-man alignment, though, will likely wait until Heaney returns.
Rotation slowly being revealed
Scioscia announced Tuesday that right-hander Matthew Shoemaker would be the Angels' No. 3 starter this season. He will make his 2018 debut Saturday at Oakland. Ohtani was announced as the starter for the fourth game. They will follow Opening Day starter Garrett Richards and Tyler Skaggs, who gets the nod Friday.

Ramirez gets in final work
Angels right-hander JC Ramirez had a rocky outing in his final start of the spring, giving up four runs on eight hits to the Dodgers in 3 2/3 innings on Tuesday. Ramirez's first start of the season is now lined up for Monday's home opener against the Cleveland Indians.
