ANAHEIM -- Mike Trout's lead among American League outfielders in All-Star Game fan votes continues to grow.
Trout had 1,812,731 votes when the latest results were revealed on Tuesday, a cushion of nearly 500,000 over the No. 2 outfielder, Red Sox center fielder Jackie Bradley Jr., with 1,322,929, and nearly 700,000 more than the No. 3 outfielder, Royals center fielder Lorenzo Cain, with 1,146,885.

Trout -- the Most Valuable Player of the Midsummer Classic each of the last two years, making him the first back-to-back winner in history -- is on track to make his fifth All-Star Game in five full seasons and start for the fourth time before turning 25.

Bradley and Cain each have more experience at the corner-outfield spots, which could allow Trout to start at his natural position of center field. But Bradley and Cain are also elite-level defenders. Only Royals catcher Salvador Perez (2,063,459) has compiled more votes in the AL than Trout.
No other Angels position players were listed among the leaders.
Albert Pujols is a 10-time All-Star, but his slash line for the year is an unspectacular .228/.309/.402 entering play Tuesday. Yunel Escobar is batting .307/.355/.408, but third base is a loaded position, with Manny Machado, Mike Moustakas and Josh Donaldson leading the way. Kole Calhoun, a reigning AL Gold Glove Award winner, is batting .290/.363/.441, but is not among the top 15 AL outfielders in fan votes.
Trout, who has finished within the top two in AL Most Valuable Player Award voting each of the last four years, is batting .308/.412/.538 with 13 home runs, 44 RBIs and nine stolen bases entering Tuesday. His FanGraphs Wins Above Replacement score of 3.7 ranks second only to Red Sox shortstop Xander Bogaerts among position players.
On track to join Trout in the AL starting lineup are Royals first baseman Eric Hosmer, Astros second baseman Jose Altuve, Red Sox designated hitter David Ortiz, Perez, Machado, Bogaerts, Bradley and Cain.
