TORONTO -- The Angels did something they hadn't done in nearly a month on Wednesday night: pick up a road win. The Halos snapped an 11-game road losing streak with an 8-2 win over the Blue Jays at Rogers Centre.
Veteran slugger Albert Pujols led the 17-hit attack by going 4-for-4 with three RBIs, including his 584th career home run in the first inning -- part of back-to-back shots with Mike Trout -- to pass former teammate Mark McGwire for sole possession of 10th on the all-time list.
Catcher Jett Bandy had a career-high four hits and starter Matt Shoemaker (8-13, 3.98 ERA) tossed six scoreless innings to win back-to-back starts for the first time since mid-July.
"I couldn't tell you how many games it was, but we're trying to play good baseball and we got the game on our terms tonight," manager Mike Scioscia said. "Did a great job on the offensive end, ran the bases well and some good pitching too."

The Angels' last road victory came on July 26 -- a 13-0 victory at Kansas City. The 11-game road skid was the Angels' longest since a 14-game streak from April 29 to June 8, 1969.
"It's huge. Every win's big for us," said Mike Trout, who finished 3-for-5 with two runs scored. "We have great team chemistry on this team, we're going out there playing hard every night. Obviously, losing [stinks], but we'll keep battling.

Scioscia hopes this is the beginning of some good fortune for his club on the road. After completing the three-game series in Toronto, the Angels head to Detroit for a three-game set.
"Anytime you play well, you hope your team starts gathering confidence and gaining confidence," Scioscia said. "That's a good club we played and we did a good job on the offensive end. You hope you're going to build confidence with some things you want to do on a regular basis.

"We're not always going to go out there and [score] eight runs, but we did a lot of good things tonight."
