Rendon in 3rd, needs Final Vote support

July 4th, 2017

WASHINGTON -- Nationals third baseman is in third place in the first update of the National League Esurance MLB All-Star Game Final Vote ballot, trailing Dodgers third baseman , who has garnered 6.7 million votes, in the five-player contest. Cubs third baseman and reigning NL MVP is in second place. The 2017 All-Star Game presented by Mastercard is Tuesday, July 11, at 7:30 p.m. ET on FOX.
Rendon's teammates were stunned that he was left off the 2017 NL All-Star team and have pushed for him to be voted in, even as Rendon has actively avoided the topic himself. Around the clubhouse Tuesday morning, players and coaches wore T-shirts with Rendon's face in the middle that said, "Anthony is my favorite player."

called Rendon an "under-the-radar superstar." Max Scherzer said it was hard for him to swallow that he was not joining him on the team. The Nationals have launched a campaign for Rendon through their official Twitter account. Fans can show their support for Rendon by tweeting with #VoteRendon, and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. ET on Thursday, any tweet that includes #VoteRendon will count toward his vote total.

Nationals players are 0-for-5 through the years in the Final Vote, including Rendon, who came up short in 2014 when he finished fourth out of five. However, this year, Nationals' fans voted in three players to start the 2017 All-Star Game (Murphy, and ), the most in club history. Perhaps they can lead a charge to help Rendon pull off a come-from-behind victory in the Final Vote as well.
