CHICAGO -- Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo continued to lead all National League players in the latest All-Star balloting, released on Wednesday, and teammates Kris Bryant, Ben Zobrist, Addison Russell and Dexter Fowler led their respective positions.
Rizzo has received 2,202,494 votes, and Bryant, Zobrist and Fowler also all have received more than 2 million votes. The closest race appears to be at shortstop. Russell has 1,489,998 votes, while the Rockies' Trevor Story is second, with 1,110,002 votes.
"I'm happy for our guys -- it's great for the organization," Cubs manager Joe Maddon said. "It will elevate their game. It's exciting for everybody. It's exciting for the players, Cubs fans and the city. You have to believe the ratings will be high in Chicago on that particular night. I know I'll be watching. I'm happy for the guys."

Russell could be the first Cubs shortstop selected to the All-Star team by the fans since Don Kessinger in 1970 and '72. Bryant is vying to join Hall of Famer Ron Santo as the only Cubs third baseman to earn a fan election. The Rockies' Nolan Arenado, who is tied for the Major League lead with 20 home runs and a NL-leading 57 RBIs, is second in the third-base balloting.

Zobrist was named to the American League All-Star team in 2009 and '13 while with the Rays. He's leading all second basemen, with the Nationals' Daniel Murphy second.
While Fowler is first among NL outfielders with 2,003,115 votes, teammate Jason Heyward is fourth with 1,271,107 votes.

"I tell my wife all the time, I didn't know that many people knew who I was," Fowler said, laughing. "It's definitely awesome [to get the support], and I hope I can still play if I make it."

The Cubs also will likely have at least one pitcher, if not two, named to the NL team. Maddon said he expected Jake Arrieta and Jon Lester to be selected.
"There's an argument for every one of them, obviously," Maddon said of his starting rotation, which leads the NL with a 2.39 ERA.

"Of course you would," Maddon said. "It's great for the player and great for the organization. I'm not worried about guys being overworked or overtaxed. It's one inning or two innings."
