MESA, Ariz. -- Archie Bradley got roughed up for six runs on five hits in just 2 1/3 innings in a 15-4 loss to the Cubs on Thursday night.
"The curveball wasn't that great today where it's been better the past couple of games, and I think I got a little predictable because I couldn't get the secondary stuff over," Bradley said. "So I had to throw fastballs, and just threw too many middle of the plate."
Bradley, ranked the No. 2 prospect in the D-backs' system, is competing for the No. 5 spot in the rotation.
"I just didn't have it today," he said. "It's as simple as that."
Reynolds' outing cut short
Left-handed reliever Matt Reynolds was forced to leave the game with what the D-backs later announced was mid-back tightness.

D-backs manager Chip Hale said that Reynolds would undergo further testing Friday.
Decisions looming
When it comes to sorting out his crowded infield competition -- the D-backs have openings at second base, shortstop and possibly third base, with six candidates in the mix -- Hale is no longer thinking that time itself will sort it out.
"I do believe they're all going to continue to play well," Hale said. "They're all good players. We're going to have to figure out what's the best thing for the ballclub and the best thing for them. When we have that decision, we'll let you know."
Minor action
D-backs right-hander Rubby De La Rosa pitched in a Minor League game Thursday afternoon against the A's Triple-A team, and he allowed two hits over six scoreless innings.
De La Rosa threw in the Minor League game rather than facing the Cubs on Thursday night, in part because he will start against them during the first week of the regular season, and Arizona didn't want to give Chicago an extra look at him.
Left-hander Robbie Ray, who's competing with Bradley and Zack Godley for the fifth rotation spot, will throw in a Minor League on Friday rather than in the regular game against the Dodgers for the same reason.
