June 30: Cardinals 7, D-backs 4 -- Score four, but fall short
The D-backs' loss to the Cardinals dropped their record to 21-23 when they score four or more runs in a game. Their record remains at 1-37 when they score three or fewer runs in a game.
June 29: Cardinals 3, D-backs 2 -- Stingy Smith in rare company
Following a four-hit outing against St. Louis, Caleb Smith has now allowed five or fewer hits in each of his seven starts this season. That stretch puts him in a tie for the franchise record for number of starts with five or fewer hits allowed to begin a season. Randy Johnson and Yusmiero Petit also accomplished the same feat in 2000 and '08, respectively.
June 28: Cardinals 7, D-backs 1: Four runs or fewer once again
The D-backs notched just one run in Monday's series-opening loss to the Cardinals at Busch Stadium, marking the team's 41st consecutive loss when scoring four runs or fewer. That ties the 2004-05 Royals for the second-longest streak of that kind, dating back to 1901 -- the longest is 44 consecutive by the 1964-65 Kansas City Athletics.
June 27: Padres 5, D-backs 4 -- Series slips away
The D-backs fell in the finale to drop their weekend series in San Diego. In losing the series, the D-backs are 0-15-1 in their past 16 series. The last time the D-backs won two games in a row was May 10-11 against the Marlins at Chase Field.
June 26: D-backs 10, Padres 1 -- The road losing streak ends
With the win, the D-backs snapped a 24-game road losing streak, which was the longest in MLB history. The last time Arizona had won an away game was April 25, when Madison Bumgarner threw a seven-inning no-hitter against the Braves in the second game of a doubleheader. The D-backs went 62 days between road wins.
June 25: Padres 11, D-backs 5 -- 10 more singles
Arizona collected 13 hits, 10 of which were singles. That's been a theme for the offense of late. Over the D-backs' past five games, they have 41 hits, and 32 of them have been singles.
June 23: Brewers 3, D-backs 2 -- Series losses piling up
Arizona fell to Milwaukee on Wednesday afternoon to drop the series. The D-backs have not won a series since taking three of four from the Rockies on April 20-May 2. In the 15 series since then, Arizona is winless, with one split.
June 22: Brewers 5, D-backs 0 -- D-backs' offensive futility
The D-backs managed just two hits against the Brewers and only had one hit through the first six innings. That marks the 20th time this season that the D-backs have had two or fewer hits through the first six innings of a game, which is 27 percent of their games.
June 21: D-backs 5, Brewers 1 -- The drought ends
The D-backs snapped their 17-game losing streak. The streak, which eclipsed the previous franchise record of 14, covered 20 days, four cities (including Phoenix) and caused an untold number of sleepless nights.
June 20: Dodgers 9, D-backs 8 -- D-backs can't solve Dodgers
Arizona continued its struggles against Los Angeles. The D-backs are now 0-7 against the Dodgers this year after going 2-8 in 2020.
June 19: Dodgers 9, D-backs 3 -- Closing in on a record
When Jake Faria made his D-backs debut, he became the 29th pitcher used by Arizona this season. That ties the Mariners for most pitchers used so far this year in Major League Baseball. The D-backs' record for pitchers used in a season is 30, which was set in 2018.
June 18: Dodgers 3, D-backs 0 -- Record losing streak
The D-backs suffered their 15th straight loss. That is the longest streak in franchise history, eclipsing the 2004 D-backs team that lost 14 in a row from July 9-25. That team went on to lose 111 games.
June 17: Giants 10, D-backs 3 -- Lonely at the top
The D-backs lost their 23rd consecutive game on the road and now hold the record for most consecutive losses away from home.
June 16: Giants 13, D-backs 7 -- The wrong kind of history
The D-backs lost their 22nd consecutive game on the road, tying the 1943 Philadelphia A's and 1963 New York Mets for the longest such skid in the Modern Era (since 1900).
June 15: Giants 9, D-backs 8 -- A rare blown lead
The D-backs lost after they had a 7-0 lead in the second inning. It was only the second time in franchise history that the team had a lead of seven or more runs and ended up losing. The only other time it happened came on July 9, 2009, when the D-backs led the Marlins, 7-0, after five innings, before allowing 14 unanswered runs, including 10 in the eighth.
June 14: Giants 5, D-backs 2 -- Kelly vs. southpaws
Carson Kelly drove home both of the D-backs' runs in Monday night's loss to the Giants at Oracle Park. Kelly was 3-for-4 on the night, but was 2-for-3 with an RBI double and a homer off lefty Alex Wood, continuing a trend for Kelly this year. Five of his eight homers and 14 of his 26 RBIs have come against left-handers, off whom he is hitting .341.
June 13: Angels 10, D-backs 3 -- Marte in the day
D-backs center fielder Ketel Marte went 2-for-3 with a walk against the Angels. It continued a positive trend for Marte when it comes to day games, as he's now 15-for-36 (.417) with five walks.
June 12: Angels 8, D-backs 7 -- Rojas good power source
After hitting just two homers total the previous two seasons, and none in 2020, Josh Rojas logged his second career multi-homer game this month and raised his season total to nine. Rojas, who went deep in the seventh and ninth innings against the Halos, also hit a pair of homers against the Brewers on June 5 -- including his first career leadoff jack.
June 11: Angels 6, D-backs 5 (10 innings) -- Woes with RISP
One of the biggest issues for Arizona's offense this year has been coming through with runners in scoring position. In a 6-5 loss to the Angels in 10 innings, the D-backs were just 1-for-17 in those situations.
June 9: A's 4, D-backs 0 -- Castellanos provides silver lining
With three scoreless frames, reliever Humberto Castellanos extended his streak of scoreless innings to seven, dating back to last season.
June 8: A's 5, D-backs 2 -- Effective with the fastball
Jon Duplantier had a CSW% (called strike plus whiff rate) of 38% with his fastball on Tuesday, the highest he's had with the pitch in a start this season. Duplantier's 11 called strikes and whiffs in the game (out of his total 21 called strikes and whiffs on the night) tied a season high as well.
June 6: Brewers 2, D-backs 0 -- 7th shutout in 61 games
The D-backs fell to the Brewers, 2-0, on Sunday afternoon at American Family Field. It was their 61st game of the season and the seventh time they've been on the wrong end of a shutout. That matches the most shutouts in the first 61 games of a season in franchise history. The only other time it happened was in 2014.
June 5: Brewers 7, D-backs 5 -- Rojas' day of firsts
Josh Rojas accomplished a pair of firsts with his two home runs. He opened the game with the first leadoff homer of his career, then he added another solo blast in the seventh inning for his first multi-homer performance.
June 4: Brewers 5, D-backs 1 -- A record road skid
The D-backs lost their 15th straight game on the road, setting a franchise record for consecutive road losses. The last time the D-backs won a road game was April 25, when Madison Bumgarner threw a seven-inning no-hitter to beat the Braves in the second game of a doubleheader.
June 3: Brewers 7, D-backs 4 -- Road skid reaches 14
The D-backs fell to the Brewers, 7-4, on Thursday night at American Family Field. It was their 14th consecutive road loss, matching the franchise record, which was set May 18-June 18, 2010.
June 2: Mets 7, D-backs 6 -- Marte's monster blast
Ketel Marte showed off his power against the Mets with a 451-foot blast in the first inning. That was the second time in the last seven days that Marte has hit a homer that traveled at least 450 feet, and the fourth time since 2019. Those four 450-plus-foot homers lead Arizona in that span.
June 1: D-backs 6, Mets 5 (10 innings) -- Curse of the Mets is over
The D-backs rallied to walk off the Mets, 6-5, in 10 innings, and in the process snapped an eight-game losing streak to New York. The streak matched the D-backs' longest in franchise history against the Mets, matching the eight-game stretch from May 31, 2006, to May 5, 2007.
