Tuesday's top AFL prospect performers

October 12th, 2022

Here’s a look at Tuesday's top performers in the Arizona Fall League from each team’s Top 30 Prospects list.

Dodgers: Andy Pages, OF (MLB No. 66), Glendale Desert Dogs
Jose Ramos, OF (No. 8), Glendale Desert Dogs
They had plenty of help, but a pair of top Dodgers prospects led the way in Glendale's win. Pages left the yard twice as part of a four-hit night and scored five runs to snap out of his slow start to the fall campaign. The 21-year-old had one hit through his first three games before tallying a pair on Monday and adding four more, lifting his average from .200 to .333. Pages spent the entire season with Double-A Tulsa, hitting 26 homers and driving in 80 runs in a career-high 132 games.

While his teammate was providing long-ball pop, Ramos kicked off his Fall League debut in style with three hits and four RBIs. The 21-year-old is coming off a power-packed season across two Minor League levels in 2022. Ramos homered 25 times, drove in 97 runs and posted an .818 OPS with Single-A Rancho Cucamonga and High-A Great Lakes. More »

Padres: Jackson Merrill, SS (MLB No. 83): Peoria Javelinas
All Merrill does is hit despite being one of the youngest players in the AFL. Since going hitless in his Fall League debut, the 19-year-old has gone 11-for-25 (.457) with two extra-base hits, seven runs and six RBIs. That includes his two-hit performance in Peoria's loss, which included his second sacrifce fly of the campaign. Merrill's 11 hits are tied for second in the AFL which has helped lift his average to .393 and OPS to .957.

Orioles: Heston Kjerstad, OF (No. 9), Scottsdale Scorpions
Another game and two more hits for Kjerstad, who will be sorry to see baseball end in 2022. The 23-year-old slugged his second homer, doubled and drove in a pair of runs to improve his AFL average to .355 and OPS to. 1.039. Selected second overall in 2020, Kjerstad made his professional debut in 2022 and slashed .309/.394/.457 with 24 extra-base hits and 37 RBIs in 65 games during the regular season. More »

Twins: Austin Martin, SS (No. 12), Glendale Desert Dogs
Martin set the table and cleaned it up from the top of Glendale's lineup, driving in a professional-best five runs. The 23-year-old equaled a career high with four hits and fell a triple shy of the cycle to spearhead the Desert Dogs' 24-hit onslaught. Martin's four hits pushed him to the top of the circuit with 12 and increased his slash line to .500/.581/.708 with three extra-base hits, eight RBIs, eight runs and four stolen bases.

Rays: Mason Auer, OF (No. 12), Mesa Solar Sox
Auer tallied just one hit but still made his presence felt in all facets of the game. The 21-year-old doubled home the first run of the game, made a nice catch in center field and swiped his fourth base in as many opportunities. Auer has gone 6-for-24 through his first five AFL games, but three of his hits have gone for extra bases and he's scored seven runs. More »
