A's finale vs. Astros postponed on Sunday

Game will be played as part of Sept. 9 doubleheader

April 16th, 2017

OAKLAND -- Rain washed away Sunday's series finale between the host A's and Astros at the Coliseum, marking just the third postponement in Oakland in the last 19 seasons.
The game will be made up on Sept. 9 as part of a straight doubleheader during the Astros' final visit of the season to the Coliseum. Tickets to Sunday's postponed game must be exchanged for any other A's home game in 2017.
Oakland's rotation is unaffected, meaning Sunday's scheduled starter will pitch Monday against the Rangers in the 7:05 p.m. PT opener of a three-game series at the Coliseum. Right-handers and are also scheduled to pitch against Texas.
"With the workload that our guys have had, we'll just stay on turn with everybody," A's manager Bob Melvin said. "It certainly gives our bullpen a little bit of a break. The last couple days, it's been taxed pretty good.
"You always try to avoid the rainouts, yet looking at the forecast and everything today, it looked like it was the right thing to do."
The Coliseum's last rainout came April 4 against Seattle, when the field was deemed unplayable after the tarp was left off overnight.
