Astros add Stassi, Chapman to roster

Kevin Chapman appeared in 51 games at Fresno this year and posted a 4.87 ERA in 61 innings.

CLEVELAND -- Catcher and left-handed reliever joined the Astros on Monday to provide some depth in September. Right-hander will join the club on Tuesday to start in place of ; he could be the final player to join the club this year from the Minor Leagues.
"I think for right now, the way we've talked about it, this might be the group we have," manager A.J. Hinch said. "There's always a chance that we meet again and come up with a different idea, but Stassi and Chapman coming today gives us a left-handed option out of the bullpen and also gives us the third catcher."
Catcher was unavailable on Monday because he was dealing with inflammation in his knee, the result of a foul tip over the weekend in Texas. got the start in Cleveland.
Chapman, now the 11th member of the bullpen, appeared in 51 games at Triple-A Fresno this year and posted a 4.87 ERA in 61 innings, striking out 76. He threw two innings on Aug. 11 in Minnesota in his only appearance this year for the Astros.
Stassi hit .230 with eight homers and 29 RBIs in 209 at-bats at Fresno this year. He appeared in two games for the Astros in May, against the Indians, and went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts.
The Astros were expected to call up outfielder from a rehab assignment at Double-A Corpus Christi, but he's still dealing with discomfort in his shoulder while swinging the bat. Hinch wasn't sure if Tucker was going to be available for the Hooks in the playoffs.
