Astros add prospect Guduan to 40-man roster

November 5th, 2016

HOUSTON -- The Astros added hard-throwing left-hander Reymin Guduan to their 40-man roster Saturday. Guduan, who was set to become a Minor League free agent, is the Astros' No. 27 prospect, according to MLBPipeline.com.
Guduan, 24, split last season between Triple-A Fresno and Double-A Corpus Christi, posting a 3-3 record with two saves and a 4.18 ERA. The Dominican struck out 63 batters in 56 innings pitched, while allowing just a .235 opponent's batting average. Lefties hit .213 against him in Fresno.
Guduan will come to Major League camp with a shot to make the big league club, considering the Astros need left-handed bullpen help. Control has been an issue throughout his time with the Astros, though. He's walked 199 batters in 253 1/3 pro innings, including 37 free passes last season.
With the addition of Guduan, the Astros now have 37 players on their 40-man roster.
