Bregman's Triple-A Fresno stint begins with torrid stretch

Astros' No. 1 prospect is hitting .476 for Grizzlies through five games

Alex Bregman may not be long for the Triple-A level.
The Astros' No. 1 prospect belted a pair of home runs and drove in three runs on Monday in Fresno's 4-1 win against Sacramento, giving him four homers and 11 RBIs in five games since his promotion on June 30. Meanwhile, he improved his Triple-A average to .476 with his 2-for-4 performance.

The 22-year-old shortstop started the scoring for Fresno with a two-run home run in the third inning, while his solo shot in the eighth provided the Grizzlies with an insurance run. It was his second multi-homer game of the season.

Bregman, No. 18 on the Top 100, scored five runs in a 4-for-5 performance in his Fresno debut Thursday, and then connected on his first Triple-A home run the following day. He had a 2-for-5 showing on Saturday before homering once on Sunday and twice more Monday.
Bregman tore up the Texas League during the first half of the season, hitting .297/.415/.559 with 32 extra-base hits including 14 home runs over 62 games with Double-A Corpus Christi. The 2015 No. 2 overall Draft pick also tallied 54 runs scored and 46 RBIs while posting a stellar 42-26 walk-to-strikeout ratio in 236 at-bats.
Bregman, who will represent the United States in the SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game on July 10, has hit .311 with 18 home runs and 57 RBIs in 67 games between the two levels.
