ARLINGTON -- The Astros completed their third straight series sweep, finishing off the Rangers with a 7-2 victory at Globe Life Park on Sunday. The Astros hit four home runs, including two by George Springer, to earn their 10th straight win.
The Astros, who swept the Orioles and Twins prior to coming to Arlington, are now 41-16 on the season. That's the best record by a Major League team after 57 games since the 2001 Mariners were 45-12 on their way to a 116-win season.

"I feel great. Obviously, to come into this park and get the sweep, this team continues to show up every single day with a great will to win," Astros manager A.J. Hinch said. "We take the aggressive approach and have done a lot of damage. I love the makeup of this team, the resolve to come in and play against teams no matter where we are, no matter who we're playing. We've got a pretty good vibe going."

The Rangers are going in the opposite direction. They have lost 11 of their last 14, including five of six on this homestand, and are now 15 games behind the Astros in the American League West. They are 1-6 against the Astros this season.
"I don't think there is anything wrong, Houston just played better than us for three games -- defensively, offensively, pitching," Rangers outfielder Shin-Soo Choo said. "We don't have any problems, they just played better than us."

Carlos Correa and Yuli Gurriel also hit home runs for the Astros to support starter Brad Peacock. He picked up the win by allowing two runs in six innings. The Astros scored in each of the first five innings. The Rangers managed just one hit through four innings before Rougned Odor led off the fifth inning with a home run.

Rangers starter Martin Perez took the loss, allowing six runs in 3 2/3 innings. It's only the second time in 12 starts Perez has been unable to pitch at least five innings, and he is now 2-6 with a 4.64 ERA on the season.
MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
Two-out hits hurt Perez: Perez entered the game with opponents hitting .313 with two outs and runners in scoring position. That continued to hurt him on Sunday, as Carlos Beltran had a two-out RBI double in the first and and Springer had another two-out RBI hit, a single in the second that allowed the Astros to take a 3-0 lead.
"I just got behind the count every time, sometimes I threw my pitches in and they hit good," Perez said. "They are a good team now. Sometimes we have to give credit to a team that we face. That's part of the game. I've got a strong mind. This is not the first time it's happened to me. I got behind, and when I throw fastballs close, they hit. They got me today."

Hot Springer: Springer hit a leadoff home run in the first and another solo homer in the fourth, giving him 16 on the season. He has seven home runs in his past eight games. He has six leadoff home runs this season, tied for the most in the Majors, and he has a nine-game hitting streak, with multiple hits in six straight games.
"Just trying to hit the ball hard," Springer said. "There's no real secret, just trying to hit the ball hard, stay within myself and get on base for the guys up behind me."

Astros: Right-hander Mike Fiers takes the mound for Houston when the Astros travel to Kansas City to open a three-game series on Monday. He is 2-2 on the year with a 4.96 ERA. Fiers has won five straight road decisions dating back to Aug. 20, 2016.
Rangers: The Rangers take on the Mets at 7:05 p.m. CT on Tuesday at Globe Life Park. The Mets are making their first visit to Arlington since 2011. Right-hander Dillon Gee will be making the start for the Rangers against the team he pitched for from 2010-15.
