WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. -- Patience is a virtue. That's something Brian McCann is well aware of.
In addition to learning a new pitching staff, the Astros' catcher is remaining true to his abilities at the plate, as well as behind it. The 12-year veteran, who came to Houston in a November trade with the Yankees, went 3-for-3 on Wednesday, including a homer, in an effort that raised his Grapefruit League batting average to .273.
The seven-time All-Star and six-time Silver Slugger Award winner was a triple shy of hitting for the cycle. It's more of what McCann is looking for as a hitter in a solid Astros lineup after collecting hits in only two of nine previous Spring Training games.

"I've been seeing the ball well and feel like I've been swinging the bat well this whole camp," McCann said. "There haven't been many hits, but the hits will be there if I continue to take this approach and this bat path."
McCann belted his second Grapefruit League homer in as many days.
"It was a fastball that cut across the plate," McCann said of his blast on Wednesday.
The homer tipped off the glove of Nationals right fielder Bryce Harper, who leaped and was unable to pull in the blast and actually tipped it over the fence and into the Nationals' bullpen.
"I just wish it was during the season, not in Spring Training; but I'll take it," McCann said.
McCann batted in the cleanup spot on Friday against the Braves, going 0-for-2 despite making good contact on a liner to first base.
