Carlos Correa has checked off the next box on his way to returning to the Astros from surgery on a torn ligament in his left thumb.

Correa got in a full rehab game at designated hitter for Triple-A Fresno on Sunday, his first time playing on back-to-back days during his rehab stint. Correa got four plate appearances as the DH in the Grizzlies' 6-3 win over Tacoma, going 0-for-3 with a walk, lineout to center field, fielder's choice and strikeout.

The 22-year-old All-Star played five innings at shortstop for Fresno on Saturday night. He will accompany Fresno on the team's upcoming road trip to El Paso, Texas, but is scheduled to get Monday off, according to Astros manager A.J. Hinch.

Correa is hitting .320/.400/.566 with 20 home runs and 67 RBIs in his 84 games for the Astros this season. He has been out since July 17, when he aggravated his thumb on a swing, after originally sustaining the injury on July 4 sliding headfirst into home.

Correa's original recovery timetable of 6-to-8 weeks could put him on track to rejoin to the Astros sometime around early September if his rehab continues to progress according to plan.
