ANAHEIM -- Astros infielder/outfielder Marwin Gonzalez wasn't in the starting lineup Sunday after being hit on the left foot by a pitch in the second inning of Saturday's game. Gonzalez stayed in the game but was hobbling afterward and was sore Sunday, manager A.J. Hinch said.
"Obviously, it's a quick turnaround from the night game to the day game," Hinch said. "I'm going to give him the day. Hopefully he'll be available to pinch-hit. He should be fine long-term, but obviously he woke up sore today."
Gonzalez went 1-for-3 in Saturday's loss, extending his hitting streak to six games, during which he's 9-for-20. Since breaking an 0-for-18 slump with a single in his first at-bat in the April 26 game in Cleveland, Gonzalez is 13-for-28 tear with six homers and 15 RBIs in his last nine games.
The super-utility player had been playing more regularly considering how well he was swinging the bat, but keeping him out of Sunday's game, combined with Monday's off-day, will give him two days to recuperate.

"It hurts to get hit in the foot," Hinch said. "I didn't know what to expect when we got out there, and it went from concern when he was lying flat on his face to him jumping up and wanting to get away from me and the trainer. The motion changed a bit. He gutted out the rest of the day, but I'm glad we avoided anything major."
Gonzalez has started five games at first base, three at second base, six at third base and six in left field this year. Last week, he homered in five consecutive games in which he started, including becoming the first player in the modern era to homer in four games in a row while playing four different positions.
