Cotton set to return to rotation Sunday

OAKLAND -- is not yet ready to close the book on his 2017 season.
The A's right-hander, who was scratched with a groin injury just minutes before his scheduled start in Detroit on Monday, is set to return to the mound Sunday for a home start against the Rangers.
Cotton threw a bullpen session at the Coliseum on Friday afternoon and said he felt no lingering effects. He'll take an 8-10 record and 5.81 ERA into Sunday's outing.
In other injury news, A's manager Bob Melvin said catcher was expected to go through a series of concussion tests on Friday, after taking a direct shot to his facemask in the ninth inning of Wednesday's game in Detroit.
Maxwell has a long history of such concerns, but "felt pretty normal today," Melvin said.
"He talked about his day yesterday. Got up a little bit slow, but felt better as the day went along and feels a lot better today."
