The Baseball Assistance Team (B.A.T.) has raised a record $5,391,310 in commitments from 1,639 players, coaches and front office personnel across MLB’s 30 Clubs during the 2026 Spring Training Fundraising Tour. This marks the fifth consecutive year that B.A.T. has broken its overall fundraising record, exceeding 2025 by almost $1 million. Celebrating its 40th anniversary in 2026, B.A.T. remains steadfast in its mission of players helping players, demonstrating the Baseball Family's unwavering dedication to its own.

The New York Mets (NL) and the Los Angeles Angels (AL) have been named the 2026 recipients of the Bobby Murcer Award. This marks the Mets’ third consecutive, and the Angels’ first Murcer Award, with both clubs receiving the honor after record-breaking fundraising seasons. The Murcer Award recognizes the teams in each league that have committed the highest amount in donations. Named for late New York Yankees outfielder and former B.A.T. Chairman Bobby Murcer, the award honors his lasting legacy of helping members of the Baseball Family in need.

"The generosity of the Baseball Family towards each other is at the heart of what makes our sport special," said Eduardo Pérez, B.A.T. President. "Now, in the fifth year of record-setting giving, it is more evident than ever that players are committed to uplifting their community in need. We are proud of the Mets and the Angels who have gone above and beyond in bringing Bobby Murcer’s vision alive.”

During the Spring Training Fundraising Tour, B.A.T. board members, including former Major League pitcher Trevor Rosenthal, Chicago White Sox VP of Community Relations, Chirstine O’Reilly, former MLB executive Laurel Prieb and Baltimore Orioles Special Advisor, former Major League center fielder and B.A.T. Vice President Adam Jones, joined B.A.T. President Eduardo Pérez, B.A.T. staff and previous grant recipients during their fundraising efforts.

Throughout its 40-year history, B.A.T. has provided $73 million in grants to 13,500 members of the Baseball Family including players, managers, coaches, scouts, umpires, athletic trainers, front office staff, Negro League players, and members of the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League, along with their dependents.
