Shohei Ohtani, Edwin Díaz, Dalton Rushing and Roki Sasaki, Dodgers
Ohtani (left knee inflammation) threw a roughly 20-pitch bullpen session on Aug. 28. Depending on how he recovers, he could pitch for the Dodgers as soon as Aug. 30.
Díaz (neck inflammation) is working through a bullpen progression and will require a rehab assignment before returning, as of an Aug. 28 update.
Rushing (right partial UCL tear) has started a throwing progression as of Aug. 28.
Sasaki was placed on the 15-day IL on Aug. 27 with a blister on his right middle finger.
Max Fried, Aaron Judge and Clarke Schmidt, Yankees
Fried (left elbow bone bruise) will be activated to start one game of the Yankees' Aug. 29 doubleheader against the Red Sox.
Judge (stress fracture in ribs) hopes to return sometime in September without a rehab assignment.
Schmidt (Tommy John surgery recovery) is scheduled to begin a rehab assignment on Aug. 29 with Double-A Somerset and is preparing to return as a reliever.
Spencer Schwellenbach, Hurston Waldrep and Robert Suarez, Braves
Schwellenbach will undergo season-ending surgery to repair the right elbow fracture he suffered in his last big league appearance on June 28, 2025.
Waldrep will undergo Tommy John surgery and miss the remainder of the 2026 season.
Suarez (right elbow inflammation) has been throwing on flat ground from 120 feet and could begin throwing off the mound as soon as Aug. 31.
Roman Anthony, Trevor Story, Isiah Kiner-Falefa and Garrett Whitlock, Red Sox
Both Anthony (partially torn tendon in right ring finger) and Story (sports hernia) will play at least one more game with Triple-A Worcester on Aug. 29 before potentially being activated.
Kiner-Falefa (stress reaction in left forearm), also on a rehab assignment with Triple-A Worcester, is unlikely to return before rosters expand on Sept. 1.
Whitlock (right elbow inflammation) expects to be activated on Aug. 29.
Juan Soto, Devin Williams and Jorge Polanco, Mets
Soto (left calf strain) went through a full workout at Citi Field on Aug. 28. As he intends to return without a rehab assignment, he could be activated in the coming days.
Williams (right shoulder strain) had not resumed throwing as of Aug. 28 but still expects to return at some point in September.
Polanco (left ankle bursitis) underwent season-ending surgery on Aug. 26.
Byron Buxton and Joe Ryan, Twins
Buxton left the Twins' Aug. 25 game in the seventh inning with a right hip injury. He was out of the lineup through Aug. 28 and is being considered day to day.
Ryan (mild left glute strain) will throw at least one more bullpen on Aug. 30 before potentially beginning a rehab assignment.
James Wood and Connelly Early, Nationals
Wood (left oblique strain) progressed to taking batting practice on the field on Aug. 28. There remains no set timeline for a rehab assignment.
Early (left elbow inflammation) threw a live bullpen session on Aug. 28 and expects to begin a rehab assignment sometime around Sept. 8.
Griffin Jax, Rays
Jax (right elbow discomfort) felt good after throwing four innings in a sim game on Aug. 28 and is likely to make his next appearance in the Majors.
Dansby Swanson and Edward Cabrera, Cubs
Swanson (left oblique strain) resumed defensive work on Aug. 28.
Cabrera (right middle finger blister) threw live batting practice on Aug. 28 and could progress to a rehab assignment soon. He expects to return in a relief role.
Brendan Donovan, Mariners
Donovan (head contusion) traveled with the team to Toronto but is not expected to be ready as soon as he is eligible for activation on Aug. 29.
Jack Leiter, Rangers
Leiter (right ankle arthroscopic surgery), on a rehab assignment with Triple-A Round Rock, will be shut down for a few days after experiencing right biceps soreness during his Aug. 26 appearance. If he is able to return in 2026, he is likely to do so in a relief role.
Ke'Bryan Hayes, Reds
Hayes was placed on the 10-day IL on Aug. 28 with a left groin strain.
Riley Greene, Jack Flaherty, Justin Verlander and Brant Hurter, Tigers
Greene (right hamstring strain) had a full workout on the field on Aug. 28 and could begin a rehab assignment as soon as the Aug. 29-30 weekend.
Flaherty (right flexor inflammation) threw his third bullpen session on Aug. 26. He will have one more on Aug. 29 before potentially progressing to facing live hitters.
Verlander (left hip inflammation, left hamstring strain) is throwing off a mound and is optimistic about pitching at least once more in 2026.
Hurter (lumbar spine inflammation) resumed his rehab assignment with Triple-A Toledo on Aug. 26.
Joe Musgrove, Padres
Musgrove (Tommy John surgery) made his fourth rehab start on Aug. 27 with Triple-A El Paso and could make his next appearance for the Padres.
Anthony Santander, Blue Jays
Santander (left shoulder labtral surgery) is hitting off a machine and plans to progress to facing live pitching during the week of Aug. 31. He remains hopeful he will return sometime in 2026.
Nolan Arenado, Corbin Burnes and Zac Gallen, D-backs
Arenado was out of the lineup on Aug. 27 and 28 due to right thumb inflammation.
Burnes (Tommy John surgery/teres major strain) and Gallen (right elbow inflammation) will begin rehab assignments with Triple-A Reno on Aug. 29 and 30, respectively.
Blaze Jordan, Masyn Winn and Andre Pallante, Cardinals
Jordan left the Cardinals' Aug. 27 game with a left leg injury following a collision at third base and is expected to miss several weeks.
Winn (left thumb fracture) was expected to take swings on Aug. 28. How he responds will determine his next steps.
Pallante (right elbow inflammation) threw 50 pitches in live BP on Aug. 28. The team will see how he recovers before determining next steps.
Davis Martin, White Sox
Martin (blister on right middle finger) made a five-inning rehab start for Triple-A Charlotte on Aug. 27 and is expected to be activated to start during the upcoming Aug. 31-Sept. 3 series against the Astros.
Michael Massey, Royals
Massey exited the Royals' Aug. 25 game in Toronto after falling and hitting his head while making a throw. He was placed on the 7-day concussion IL on Aug. 27.
