Bobby Witt Jr., Jac Caglianone, Maikel Garcia, Stephen Kolek and Kris Bubic, Royals
Witt (lower back tightness) was placed on the 10-day injured list on July 22. He will wait for his back spasms to subside before beginning baseball activities.
Caglianone was out of the lineup on July 22, a day after leaving the game with right shoulder soreness.
Garcia (left hand muscle strain) resumed swinging during the All-Star break and ramped up his batting practice progression during the week of July 20. He will continue that activity until he's ready for a rehab assignment.
Kolek (right flexor strain) experienced forearm tightness during a July 18 rehab start for Triple-A Omaha and was transferred to the 60-day IL on July 22. He is seeking a second opinion to determine his next steps, but surgery is likely needed.
Bubic (left shoulder soreness) could begin a new throwing program as soon as the week of July 20.
Samuel Basallo and Adley Rutschman, Orioles
Basallo (right shoulder inflammation) was placed on the 10-day IL on July 22, two days after departing the Orioles' game following his at-bat in the second inning.
Rutschman (left wrist inflammation) was placed on the 10-day IL on July 20.
Shohei Ohtani, Will Smith, Edwin Díaz, Kiké Hernández and Blake Snell, Dodgers
Ohtani (left knee soreness) threw his first bullpen session in two weeks on July 22, throwing around 30 pitches and appearing to use his entire pitch mix.
Smith (neck inflammation) was transferred to the 60-day injured list on July 21.
Díaz (loose bodies in right elbow) pitched the first outing of a scheduled back-to-back with Triple-A Oklahoma City on July 22, allowing one run on one hit with two strikeouts in two-thirds of an inning. After one additional weekend outing, he could return to the Dodgers.
Hernández (left oblique strain) began a rehab assignment with Triple-A Oklahoma City on July 17 and is expected to remain with the Comets until the Dodgers' next homestand begins on July 28.
Snell (loose bodies in left elbow) threw 1 1/3 scoreless innings and struck out four batters in his first rehab start for Triple-A Oklahoma City on July 18. His next rehab start is scheduled for July 24.
Kyle Harrison, DL Hall, David Hamilton, Sal Frelick and Brandon Woodruff, Brewers
Harrison (left forearm tightness) was scheduled to throw a live batting practice session of four "ups" on July 25, followed by a Minor League rehab start on July 31 barring any setbacks.
Hall (left pectoral strain) was slated to pitch two innings with Triple-A Nashville on July 22.
Hamilton (left hamstring strain/right elbow soreness) is expected back with the Brewers by the end of the week.
Frelick (right shoulder strain) was awaiting the result of a second opinion from Dr. Keith Meister, as of July 22.
Woodruff will undergo shoulder surgery with Dr. Eric Bowman in August to repair the capsule in his right shoulder.
Giancarlo Stanton, Yankees
Stanton (right calf strain) has resumed outdoor running and has undergone several PRP injections to speed healing, but manager Aaron Boone said July 20 there is "no timeline" for Stanton to begin a rehab assignment.
Ranger Suarez, Trevor Story, Roman Anthony, Marcelo Mayer and Connelly Early, Red Sox
Suarez (left groin strain/illness) will not return for Game 2 of the club's day-night doubleheader on July 22. He is eyeing a weekend return during a three-game series against the Blue Jays that starts July 24.
Story (sports hernia) hopes to start a Minor League rehab assignment sometime in August.
Anthony (partially torn tendon in left ring finger) continues to train in Fort Myers, Fla., waiting to be symptom-free so he can start a swing program, as of a July 19 update.
Mayer (stress reaction in left ulna) has been cleared to start a hitting progression.
Early (left elbow inflammation) ramped his throwing program up to 120 feet on July 21.
Justin Martinez and Ryne Nelson, D-backs
Martinez (Tommy John surgery) has thrown 15 bullpen sessions and threw a live batting practice session on July 18.
Nelson (right flexor strain/right UCL sprain) has begun a throwing progression after a July 17 MRI exam showed sufficient healing.
Nick Kurtz, J.T. Ginn and Joshua Kuroda-Grauer, Athletics
Kurtz (right thumb capsule strain) joined the A's on their road trip, which began July 20 in Arizona. He fielded ground balls on July 20 and has begun a hitting progression. According to manager Mark Kotsay, there's a chance Kurtz could return as soon as July 24-26 in Minnesota.
Ginn was placed on the 15-day injured list on July 22, retroactive to July 18, with a right middle finger blister.
Kuroda-Grauer was placed on the 10-day injured list on July 21 after undergoing emergency surgery to repair a ruptured testicle. There is no current timeline for his return.
Ronald Acuña Jr., Hurston Waldrep, Ha-Seong Kim, Spencer Schwellenbach and AJ Smith-Shawver, Braves
Acuña (Grade 1 left hamstring strain) is on a rehab assignment with Triple-A Gwinnett and could return during the Braves' current homestand, which ends July 23.
Waldrep exited his July 19 rehab start for Triple-A Gwinnett with right arm discomfort and will be further evaluated.
Kim (right middle finger inflammation) went 1-for-4 with a double in a July 21 rehab game for Triple-A Gwinnett.
Schwellenbach (right elbow surgery) has begun throwing bullpen sessions in Florida, according to president of baseball operations Alex Anthopoulos.
Smith-Shawver (UCL surgery) made his fourth rehab start on July 18 for Triple-A Gwinnett, throwing 72 pitches over 4 1/3 scoreless innings and striking out five.
Max Meyer, Marlins
Meyer (neck strain) was placed on the 15-day IL on July 20.
Jack Flaherty, Casey Mize, Justin Verlander, Jackson Jobe and Javier Báez, Tigers
Flaherty was placed on the 15-day injured list on July 21 with right flexor inflammation. The injury is believed to be minor, and the Tigers hope Flaherty will miss only the minimum 15 days.
Mize (left wrist contusion/groin tightness) exited his July 19 start after taking a comebacker off his left hand/wrist and suffering a mild aggravation of his groin injury. He felt fine throwing on July 20 and is expected to make his next start.
Verlander (left hip inflammation) is playing catch daily but is not throwing off a mound as of July 21.
Jobe (Tommy John surgery) pitched three innings in a July 19 rehab start for Double-A Erie, allowing one unearned run on three hits with three strikeouts. He will make another rehab start for Erie during the week of July 20.
Báez (right ankle sprain) began a rehab assignment on July 21 with Single-A Lakeland, going 1-for-2 with a single and playing five innings at shortstop.
Max Scherzer and Jesús Sánchez, Blue Jays
Scherzer (back spasms) pitched five scoreless and hitless innings in a rehab start July 22 with Triple-A Buffalo, striking out seven.
Sánchez (right ankle sprain) has started running the bases and could appear in rehab games by the end of the week of July 20.
Brendan Donovan and J.P. Crawford, Mariners
Donovan (left groin strain) transferred his rehab assignment to High-A Everett on July 21 with Triple-A Tacoma going on a road trip.
Crawford (left wrist soreness) missed his third straight game on July 22. He has been resting more but going through "limited activity," per manager Dan Wilson, and the Mariners are hoping he can return for their upcoming series in Texas.
Nick Pivetta, Joe Musgrove, Lucas Giolito, Miguel Andujar and Jeremiah Estrada, Padres
Pivetta (right elbow inflammation) and Musgrove (Tommy John surgery) both threw up-down bullpen sessions on July 17 and are scheduled to face hitters in live batting practice sessions on July 24.
Giolito (right elbow inflammation) is continuing a throwing progression at the Padres' complex in Arizona and could face hitters soon, per a July 21 update.
Andujar was placed on the 10-day injured list on July 20 with a fractured right wrist. The Padres do not expect the injury to be season-ending.
Estrada (right knee inflammation) threw 19 pitches in a rehab outing with Triple-A El Paso on July 21.
Corey Seager, Josh Jung and Kyle Higashioka, Rangers
Seager (back discomfort) has continued his hitting progression with machine work in the batting cage and has continued to take ground balls and run the bases. He could potentially begin taking live batting practice on July 25 or July 26.
Jung left the Rangers' July 21 game before the fourth inning with left calf tightness after running the bases in the third. He was not in the lineup on July 22.
Higashioka was placed on the injured list on July 21 with a right flexor strain.
Kyle Teel, Colson Montgomery and Drew Thorpe, White Sox
Teel was placed on the 10-day injured list on July 21 with a left high ankle sprain. He will be sidelined from six to 12 weeks.
Montgomery left the game on July 20 with a right shin contusion after fouling a pitch off his leg in the seventh inning, but he does not believe the injury is long term. He was not in the lineup on July 21 due to soreness but was available off the bench.
Thorpe (Tommy John surgery) will make a rehab outing on July 24 for High-A Winston-Salem, expecting to pitch three innings.
Clay Holmes, Mets
Holmes (fractured right fibula) is scheduled to begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Syracuse on July 23. Interim manager Andy Green said Holmes will need at least one more rehab appearance after that before he's activated.
Ben Joyce, Yusei Kikuchi, Yoán Moncada and Travis d'Arnaud, Angels
Joyce (right shoulder surgery) faced two batters in a July 20 rehab outing in the Arizona Complex League before weather interrupted his outing.
Kikuchi (left shoulder inflammation) threw a bullpen session on July 17 and progressed to throwing 34 pitches against hitters on July 21. He'll throw one more live session against hitters before he starts a rehab assignment.
Moncada (right knee inflammation) is still rehabbing his injury at home and hasn't started baseball activities, as of July 22.
d'Arnaud (right foot plantar fasciitis) began a rehab assignment with Triple-A Salt Lake on July 17 and went 1-for-2 with a walk. He caught six innings on July 19 and went 2-for-2 on July 21.
Spencer Horwitz and Oneil Cruz, Pirates
Horwitz (left hamstring strain) began a rehab assignment on July 21 with Single-A Bradenton, playing five innings at first base and going 1-for-1 with a single and two walks.
Cruz (fourth and fifth metacarpal non-displaced fractures in left hand) is expected to begin a rehab assignment at the start of August.
Angel Martínez, Guardians
Martínez (left foot fracture) is scheduled to play seven to nine innings on July 22 with Double-A Akron in the fourth game of his rehab assignment. The Guardians will reassess him on July 23.
Matt Chapman and Trevor McDonald, Giants
Chapman (abdominal strain) could return as soon as the Giants' upcoming July 24-29 homestand.
McDonald was placed on the injured list on July 21 with a right elbow strain after exiting his July 20 start in Kansas City while warming up for the fifth inning.
Hayden Wesneski and Mike Burrows, Astros
Wesneski (torn right UCL) is set to make his fifth and possibly final Minor League rehab start on July 23 at Triple-A Sugar Land.
Burrows (right elbow neuritis) will throw a bullpen session on July 24 at the team's facility in West Palm Beach, Fla.
Edward Cabrera, Ben Brown, Hoby Milner, Phil Maton and Matt Shaw, Cubs
Cabrera (left hamstring/adductor strain) has begun throwing off a mound and has a live batting practice session scheduled for July 26, per manager Craig Counsell.
Brown (stress reaction in neck) has begun plyo ball work and light throwing. He has been "asymptomatic" recently, according to Counsell, but the Cubs continue to be conservative with his workout program.
Milner (appendicitis) threw a bullpen session on July 22 and is slated to throw live batting practice on July 26.
Maton was placed on the 15-day injured list on July 20 with right knee tendinitis.
Shaw (left hand sprain) underwent recent imaging that showed "significant healing," Counsell said on July 21. Shaw will move his rehab to Arizona but will not yet begin swinging a bat.
Connor Prielipp, Twins
Prielipp (blister on left middle finger) joined the Twins in Cleveland and will throw a bullpen session on July 23, which points to a possible start on July 25 at home.
Matt McLain, Reds
McLain (left calf strain) will begin a rehab assignment on July 24 with Triple-A Louisville at Toledo, playing second base and shortstop.
Brenton Doyle, Rockies
Doyle (left oblique contusion/left groin tightness) has built up to full baseball activities. If cleared, he will begin a rehab assignment at Triple-A Albuquerque on July 23.
