Clayton Kershaw and Austin Barnes, Dodgers

Kershaw (bone spur in left big toe) threw 80 pitches in the bullpen on Wednesday, and the Dodgers are now hopeful that he may be able to return in time to make one more regular season appearance.

Barnes was placed on the injured list on Monday after fracturing his big left toe in Sunday's game. More >

Christian Scott, Kodai Senga, Francisco Lindor and Paul Blackburn, Mets

Scott will undergo season-ending Tommy John surgery with an internal brace, per his agent. More >

Senga (high-grade left calf strain) is planning to make a "tune-up" appearance with Triple-A Syracuse this weekend with the hopes of joining the Mets on their final road trip. More >

As expected, Lindor (back tightness) was out of the Mets' lineup for a third straight night on Wednesday, though his back was feeling notably improved as of Tuesday, per manager Carlos Mendoza. He remains day-to-day.

The Mets have shut down Blackburn due to a spinal fluid leak in his mid-back. Team officials are uncertain when Blackburn may be able to pitch again, but president of baseball operations David Stearns cautioned that the injury is not as troubling as it might sound. More >

Jordan Westburg, Ramón Urías and Ryan Mountcastle, Orioles

Westburg (right hand fracture) and Urías (right ankle sprain) are both scheduled to begin rehab assignments with Triple-A Norfolk on Thursday.

Mountcastle (left wrist sprain) has been at the team's Spring Training facilities in Sarasota, Fla., in recent days, hitting off a tee while continuing to progress. Elias expressed optimism Mountcastle was close to beginning a Minor League rehab assignment with Triple-A Norfolk. More >

Bo Bichette, Will Wagner and Daulton Varsho, Blue Jays

Bichette, who returned from his second IL stint of the season on Tuesday, was out of the lineup Wednesday with a right middle finger contusion.

Wagner (left knee inflammation) will undergo a left knee scope on Thursday. The procedure is not expected to impact his 2025 season. More >

Varsho will undergo rotator cuff surgery soon to repair his right shoulder, Blue Jays manager John Schneider said Tuesday, which ends his 2024 season. More >

Steven Kwan and Alex Cobb, Guardians

After missing four straight games with mid-back inflammation, Kwan was placed on the injured list on Tuesday, retroactive to Saturday. More >

Cobb (right hand blister) is expected to throw a bullpen this week, then will likely begin a rehab assignment after that. More >

Brandon Williamson, Hunter Greene, Andrew Abbott and Nick Lodolo, Reds

Williamson left Tuesday's start after 1 1/3 innings due to a left elbow strain. An MRI revealed a complete tear of his left UCL, for which he will need Tommy John surgery. More >

Greene (right elbow soreness) threw 52 pitches over three simulated innings on Tuesday, his last step before getting activated from the IL. Manager David Bell did not have a firm schedule for when Greene would get into a game, but all signs pointed to Sunday vs. the Pirates.

Abbott (left shoulder strain) threw his second side bullpen session on Tuesday and is scheduled to have one more before moving on to facing hitters in live batting practice. The club is hoping that Abbott will return for potentially one game before the season ends.

Lodolo (left middle finger sprain), who went on the injured list on Aug. 27, is not going to return to pitch again this season, Bell said on Tuesday. More >

Luis García Jr., Nationals

García Jr. was out of Wednesday's starting lineup after leaving Tuesday's game with pain in his right wrist. Manager Dave Martinez said that García could be available off the bench.

Victor Robles, Mariners

Robles was removed from Tuesday's game with a right hand contusion suffered when he was hit by a pitch in the first inning. X-rays came back negative, but Robles was still in significant pain on Wednesday and was out of the lineup as a result. More >

Lance Lynn, Cardinals

Lynn was placed on the 15-day IL Wednesday with right knee inflammation, effectively ending his 2024 season. More >

Keith was removed from Tuesday's game after jamming his right shoulder and remained out of the lineup Wednesday. More >

Sandy Alcantara, Marlins

Alcantara threw 20 pitches of live batting practice and lit up the radar gun at 99 mph on Tuesday afternoon at loanDepot park, while facing hitters for the first time since undergoing Tommy John surgery on Oct. 6, 2023. More >

Ozzie Albies, Braves

Albies (left wrist fracture) began a rehab stint with Triple-A Gwinnett on Tuesday, recording two hits and a home run. If all goes well on Tuesday and Wednesday, he will travel to Miami and rejoin Atlanta's lineup for Friday's series opener against the Marlins. More >

Lourdes Gurriel Jr., D-backs

Gurriel (left calf strain) had four live at-bats at the team's continuation camp at Salt River Fields in Scottsdale on Tuesday. He also ran the bases and played the outfield, which manager Torey Lovullo reported Gurriel recovered well from. More >

Payamps left Sunday's game due to right forearm tightness and his status is uncertain. More >

Tanner Houck, Red Sox

Houck, who hasn't pitched since Sept. 4 due to right shoulder fatigue, was supposed to return last Friday at Yankee Stadium, but was scratched less than an hour before first pitch. Red Sox manager Alex Cora is confident Houck will return to start against the Rays on Wednesday, but he was still awaiting official clearance from the training staff. More >

Pete Fairbanks and Jeffrey Springs, Rays

Rays manager Kevin Cash said on Tuesday that Fairbanks (right lat strain) and Springs (left elbow fatigue), both currently on the 15-day injured list, won't return this season despite making progress in their rehab programs. More >
