Rafael Devers, Giants
Devers was scratched from the Giants' lineup against the Dodgers on Feb. 27 due to left hamstring tightness.
Blake Snell and Brusdar Graterol, Dodgers
Snell slow-played his offseason throwing program due to lingering left shoulder discomfort. He is set to ramp up his throwing progression by playing catch out to 120 feet, but it is very unlikely he'll be ready by Opening Day.
Graterol (recovery from right shoulder surgery) is only playing catch right now. His velocity is down from where it is expected to be, so the Dodgers are slow-playing his ramp-up.
Francisco Lindor, Mets
Lindor had the stitches removed from his surgically repaired left hand on Feb. 24, keeping him on track for an Opening Day return. Lindor, who underwent Feb. 11 surgery to repair a stress reaction in his left hamate bone, can restart “impact” activities in approximately 2-3 days.
Zack Wheeler, Phillies
On Feb. 26, Wheeler threw his first bullpen session since undergoing thoracic outlet decompression surgery on Sept. 23. Manager Rob Thomson said Wheeler's session could mark the beginning of a six-week ramp-up to “possibly” make him big league game-ready by the end of it.
Royce Lewis, Pablo López, Joe Ryan, David Festa and Julian Merryweather, Twins
Lewis was scratched from the Twins' lineup on Feb. 26 "out of an abundance of caution" after experiencing right side tightness. His MRI came back clean.
López underwent elbow surgery on Feb. 25 with Dr. Keith Meister in Texas for a repair of his right UCL with an internal brace, rather than a full reconstruction. López will still miss all of the 2026 season.
Ryan (back inflammation) will throw a bullpen session on Feb. 28 and could get into a game soon after the team's March 2 off-day. His status for the upcoming World Baseball Classic remains undetermined.
Festa was diagnosed with an impingement in his throwing shoulder and will not pick up a ball for “a couple of weeks,” according to Twins head athletic trainer Nick Paparesta.
Merryweather was diagnosed with a Grade 1 hamstring strain and is expected to miss 3-4 weeks before he can return to games.
Cam Schlittler, Anthony Volpe, Oswaldo Cabrera and Gerrit Cole, Yankees
Schlittler (left lat/midsection discomfort) faced hitters in live batting practice Feb. 25, throwing approximately 25 pitches. He could pitch in Grapefruit League games during the first week of March, and he is expected to be ready for the start of the season, Yankees manager Aaron Boone said.
Volpe (left shoulder labrum tear) has resumed hitting drills, including tee-and-toss exercises, as of Feb. 25. He is participating in all defensive and baserunning drills but will not dive until April.
Cabrera (recovery from left ankle surgery) is participating in most drills during Spring Training and is “getting close” to game action.
Cole faced live hitters on Feb. 20 for the first time since undergoing Tommy John surgery, throwing about 20 pitches and sitting 95-96 mph.
Merrill Kelly, D-backs
Kelly (intercostal nerve irritation) said on Feb. 25 that he doesn't think he'll be ready to start on Opening Day for the D-backs. Arizona is holding out hope that if Kelly can get back on a mound soon, he will not have to start the season on the injured list.
Brandon Woodruff, Brewers
Woodruff threw 26 pitches in a simulated game on Feb. 23, his first action against hitters since his comeback season ended due to a lat strain last September. Woodruff is right on the schedule he set with the team’s medical staff at the end of last year and said he feels strong, but he conceded that he’s behind some of the other pitchers in camp.
Konnor Griffin, Pirates
Griffin was struck on the right foot by a pitch in the seventh inning on Feb. 25 against Atlanta. He was kept from action Feb. 26 as a precaution.
Samuel Basallo, Orioles
Basallo left Baltimore's Feb. 26 game due to right side/abdominal discomfort, which he felt while tagging out a runner on a relay throw to home plate in the third inning. Manager Craig Albernaz described the move as “completely precautionary." He and Basallo are optimistic the young catcher will return to game action this weekend.
Stephen Kolek, Royals
Kolek (Grade 1+ left oblique strain) will be shut down for at least the next week, putting his status for Opening Day in doubt.
Tyler Austin, Cubs
Cubs manager Craig Counsell announced that Austin underwent right knee surgery on Feb. 24 and would be out “months” as he recovers. The 34-year-old Austin required a right patellar tendon debridement procedure after his knee “didn’t respond well” in early camp workouts.
Patrick Sandoval, Kutter Crawford, Romy Gonzalez and Brendan Rodgers, Red Sox
Sandoval (left UCL repair) and Crawford (right wrist subsheath tear) each threw live batting practice on Feb. 27. However, neither has been put into the Grapefruit League rotation yet, casting doubt on if they can be stretched out by Opening Day. Both pitchers missed all of last season due to injuries.
Gonzalez (left shoulder) hasn't been able to participate in baseball activity besides playing catch, making it all but certain he won't be ready for Opening Day. He is recovering from a PRP injection from early February.
Rodgers (right shoulder soreness) is scheduled for an MRI after being injured in a Feb. 25 Grapefruit League game.
Troy Melton, Tigers
Melton (right elbow inflammation) will not throw for 1-2 weeks and is unlikely to be ready for Opening Day.
J.P. Crawford, Mariners
Crawford hasn't played in a Cactus League game yet due to right shoulder soreness and has been limited with infield drills on the back fields. It's similar to what he dealt with last year, manager Dan Wilson said, which did not impede his Opening Day status.
Chase DeLauter, Guardians
DeLauter was a late scratch from the Feb. 25 lineup due to lower body soreness, but he is eyeing a return to the lineup in the coming days.
Josh Jung and Sebastian Walcott, Rangers
Jung was scratched from the starting lineup on Feb. 26 as a precaution because he felt “a little something” in his hamstring that morning. He is expected to attempt more baseball activities on Feb. 27, with hope of returning to the lineup this weekend.
Walcott (MLB Pipeline's No. 7 overall prospect) had a successful internal brace surgery on his right elbow performed by the club’s team physician, Dr. Keith Meister, in Arlington last week, general manager Ross Fenstermaker announced on Feb. 24.
Yuki Matsui, Padres
Matsui (left groin strain) will not pitch for Team Japan in the World Baseball Classic. He has resumed playing catch but has yet to throw off a mound, and his status for Opening Day remains in question.
Andrew Benintendi and Luisangel Acuña, White Sox
Benintendi was scratched from the starting lineup against the Rangers on Feb. 27, but manager Will Venable said it was precautionary.
Acuña exited the Feb. 25 Cactus League game against the Reds after suffering a cut on his left eyebrow while sliding headfirst into second base on a stolen base in the fourth. He needed four stitches, per the White Sox.
Gavin Lux, Chandler Simpson and Taylor Walls, Rays
Lux "probably won't be on the field for a little bit," manager Kevin Cash said Feb. 26, as the Rays are taking a preventative approach to his general soreness entering camp.
Simpson (left hamstring tightness) has been held out of the first few games of Spring Training as a precaution but could be back in the lineup as early as Feb. 27.
Walls (left oblique tightness) is expected to return to the field as soon as Feb. 28.
Ricky Tiedemann, Blue Jays
Tiedemann, who missed much of 2024 and all of the '25 season after undergoing Tommy John surgery, has been shut down for the next week with left elbow soreness. The good news is that an initial MRI showed “nothing structural” in Tiedemann’s elbow.
