TOR-BOS postponed; split DH on Wed.

Ray tabbed for Game 1 with Matz to follow in Game 2

July 28th, 2021

The Red Sox-Blue Jays game scheduled for Tuesday at Fenway Park has been rescheduled for Wednesday, July 28, as the first game of a split, 7-inning doubleheader beginning at 2:10 p.m. ET. The schedule change was made due to severe weather conditions in the Fenway area.

Robbie Ray, who was supposed to get the ball for Toronto on Tuesday, will start Game 1 of the doubleheader. Steven Matz, who struck out eight in his last start at Fenway in June, will follow as Game 2’s starter. The Red Sox will counter with righties Garrett Richards and Tanner Houck in Games 1 and 2, respectively.

The Blue Jays are 5-3 in doubleheader games this season, coming off a sweep of the Rangers on July 18 (winning by a combined score of 15-0).

The Red Sox are 2-2 in doubleheader games, including 0-2 at home, but they haven’t played a twin bill since April 18.

Tickets for Tuesday's game will be good for admission to the rescheduled contest. Fenway Park gates are expected to open 90 minutes before the 2:10 p.m. game (12:40 p.m.) and one hour before the regularly scheduled 7:10 p.m. game (6:10 p.m.).
