MINNEAPOLIS – Bobby Witt Jr. exited Sunday’s series finale with right knee soreness, the Royals announced.
The shortstop was lifted in the bottom of the seventh inning, with Maikel Garcia moving over to shortstop, Nick Loftin moving to third base and Michael Massey entering the game at second base.
There didn’t appear to be one specific play or event that Witt was injured on, but he did strike out for the third time in four at-bats Sunday in the top of the seventh inning. A half-inning later is when he exited the game.
Witt also made an error in the second inning, which led to the only unearned run that starter Noah Cameron allowed during the Royals’ eventual 6-5 win over the Twins at Target Field.
