BOSTON -- Hours after exiting his Sunday start against the Rays in the top of the fourth inning due to left triceps tightness, Red Sox lefty Thomas Pomeranz expressed confidence that he won't miss a start.
Pomeranz suffered the same injury in Spring Training and stayed on turn in the rotation.
"At this point I should be fine for my next start," Pomeranz said. "We'll see how the next few days unfold, but I don't think it's going to be too big of an issue that keeps me out of any games."
In Sunday's 11-2 loss to the Rays, Pomeranz felt something warming up prior to the fourth inning.

Pomeranz flexed his arm in a circular motion, and was removed from the game after a visit from assistant trainer Paul Buchheit and manager John Farrell.
The Red Sox will know more after Pomeranz gets a full workup from the team's medical staff on Monday.
"He'll go through some imaging tomorrow, just precautionary," Farrell said after Sunday's game. "He wasn't able to reproduce any symptoms later in the day, so we'll see what transpires tomorrow."
Pomeranz pitched through left elbow discomfort last season, and opened this season on the disabled list with a left forearm flexor strain.
In Sunday's start, played in a drizzling rain, Pomeranz wasn't sharp, giving up three hits, two runs and three walks over three innings. He also had three strikeouts.
"I felt all right," Pomeranz said. "The last two outings, I've struggled a little bit. You have ups and downs in the season and can't always be perfect every time out there, but it's frustrating sometimes, wanting to stay out there for as long as I can, keep us in the game, obviously don't want to give up runs early like I did today or the last time out, but it's part of it."
It would certainly be welcome news to the Red Sox if Pomeranz doesn't have to miss a start.
The injury to Pomeranz could further challenge Boston's starting-rotation depth.
The Red Sox recently lost starter Steven Wright for the season with a left knee injury that required surgery. David Price, who is on the disabled list with a left elbow strain, could be activated by May 24.
Price's Minor League rehab assignment got rained out on Sunday, but he was able to throw 75 pitches indoors.
