For their charitable efforts, including $50 million in giving over their 20-year franchise history, the D-backs have been pillars in the Phoenix community, particularly among young fans. On Saturday, the club was honored at the Boys & Girls Club of Metropolitan Phoenix "Today's Kids, Tomorrow's Stars" fundraiser.

The event, which was held at the Westin Kierland Resort & Spa, celebrated 13 youth finalists for the 2018 Youth of the Year award. Among the club's current contingent who were scheduled to attend included manager Torey Lovullo, Archie Bradley, Zack Greinke, Chris Owings and Taijuan Walker. Hall of Famer and D-backs special assistant to the president and CEO Randy Johnson also was in attendance, as was former star Luis Gonzalez, now the D-backs' senior adviser to the president and CEO.

D-backs president and CEO Derrick Hall also was on hand, along with Ken Kendrick, the D-backs' managing general partner.

The finalists are each representing one of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metropolitan Phoenix Clubhouses, including the MLB All-Star D-backs branch. This year's event incorporated unique baseball elements, including an interview hosted by Hall and local broadcaster Jody Jackson with Gonzalez, who told his story about growing up a Boys & Girls Club member.
