BOSTON -- The Rays placed Brad Miller on the 10-day disabled list after the first baseman sustained a left groin strain in Sunday's 8-7 loss to the Red Sox.
Miller said he felt his left groin tighten after his third at-bat.
"I tried for a couple of innings to shake it off," Miller said. "But I knew it probably wasn't going to be smart to stay in there."
To fill Miller's spot on the roster, the Rays summoned right-hander
Kiermaier injured himself when he hit in the eighth and batted against Boston reliever
"I'll be OK," Kiermaier said. "I couldn't have squared that up any more. ... That hurt. Even going on defense. Definitely moving gingerly for the rest of the game. I'll probably be sore tomorrow."
Kiermaier said he didn't need X-rays.
