It's a girl! Pfaadt sports pink laces to help with gender reveal for brother's family

PHILADELPHIA -- Brandon Pfaadt took a little extra time in lacing up his spikes before his start against the Phillies on Saturday afternoon, being careful to line up the pink laces just right.

That's because the laces weren't there just to hold his feet in, but they were delivering an important message to his family watching on television back home in Kentucky.

“You may note that Brandon is wearing pink laces on his cleats for this afternoon’s start," Arizona television play-by-play man Steve Berthiaume said as Pfaadt took the mound. "These are not ordinary laces. This is a special note from Brandon and his younger brother Brett for Brett’s wife, Hannah, and their whole family: ‘We are pleased to announce that Brandon is wearing specially selected gender-reveal shoelaces. So congratulations Brett and Hannah. It’s a girl!’”

Pfaadt and his brother hatched the plan, and Pfaadt then let the broadcasters in on it so they could help bring the news to the family back home.
