Braves pull off a majestic double slide

September 4th, 2019

Last week, the Braves supplied us with one of the most ridiculous slides of the season when delivered what looked like a flying jump kick into second base. On Tuesday at SunTrust Park, they provided us one of the most eye-pleasing slides of the season: the rare double slide.

After worked a walk to load the bases in the eighth inning, Tyler Flowers sent a deep drive out to center. Blue Jays center fielder Teoscar Hernandez looked like he might chase it down for the out, but the ball eluded his grasp.

Josh Donaldson, who was on third base, casually trotted home. , who had stayed close to second in case Hernandez made the play, took off for third and headed for the plate, and he had the fleet-footed Swanson right on his heels. The duo went into their slides almost at the exact same moment, with Joyce going feet-first while Swanson opted for the head-first variety.

Both runners were safe and accounted for the final two runs in the Braves' 7-2 win.
