ATLANTA -- Freddie Freeman hit the Majors' first cycle of the 2016 season Wednesday night, but it wouldn't have satisfied him without a victory. The Braves picked up that win when they rallied back to beat the Reds, 9-8, on Chase d'Arnaud's walk-off single in the 13th inning.
"It would have meant nothing if we didn't win, but the comeback kids came out tonight," Freeman said after the game. "I'm sure a lot of people didn't think we were gonna come back and win that game. It's definitely a thrill for us."

Freeman doubled in the third and tripled in the fourth, before hitting a solo home run to left field in the bottom of the sixth to tie the game, 6-6.

The Braves' left-handed slugger had a chance to clinch it when he dug into the batter's box in the bottom of the eighth, but Reds reliever Ross Ohlendorf struck him out.

He finally completed the cycle with a single to center to lead off the bottom of the 11th inning.
Freeman is the first Braves player to hit for the cycle since Mark Kotsay on Aug. 14, 2008, against the Cubs. He is the third player in the Atlanta era to hit for the cycle and seventh in Braves franchise history.

Braves interim manager Brian Snitker recalled after the game being the Braves' third-base coach when Kotsay hit for the cycle, but most of all he praised his players for fighting back after giving up two runs in the top of the 13th.
"I can't say enough about those guys out there," Snitker said. "And I've said it too, what they've been through this year, you'd never know coming in here every day. I see the energy, the enthusiasm, the work ethic. Everything is off the charts, so I'm really happy for those guys."
