Freddie Freeman's hitting streak has earned the Braves first baseman National League Player of the Week honors.
Freeman, who entered Tuesday riding a 12-game hitting streak -- as well as hitting safely in 23 of his past 24 games -- helped lead the Braves to a 6-0 record last week.
"It's just nice to get recognized," Freeman said. "You go out, play the game hard and play the game the right way, things go you way. It's nice people actually notice, but my main concern is we've been playing better baseball. Hopefully I can continue playing like this and help us get more wins."
The 26-year-old hit .400/.600/.850 with two home runs and seven RBIs. Freeman also drew 10 walks in 30 plate appearances. He posted two multihit games in a weekend sweep of the Phillies, homering in Sunday's finale.
This is Freeman's fourth career weekly honor, and his second of the season. He was previously named NL Player of the Week for the week of June 19.
