ATLANTA -- After notching a pair of key RBIs and two hits during Tuesday night's 8-1 win over the Dodgers, Jeff Francoeur did not have to think long when he was asked whether he remembered when he had last recorded a multihit game for the Braves.
"Oh yeah, Colorado, the day before I was traded," Francoeur said. "Two doubles or three doubles."
Francoeur notched three doubles during a July 9, 2009, game against the Rockies and then returned to Coors Field the following afternoon to learn he had been traded to the Mets in exchange for Ryan Church.
When asked if he will be worried about a repeat of events upon returning to Turner Field on Wednesday, Francoeur smiled and took the high road by saying, "I guess I could say something, but I'm not going to."
Since rejoining the Braves on a Minor League deal in late February, Francoeur has made it clear that any previous animosity he held toward the organization was aimed toward members of the previous front office. The suburban Atlanta native has been given another chance to play for the hometown team and extend his career in a role much different than the one he had back when he was considered a cornerstone for the Braves organization.
"He's a great team leader in the clubhouse and a professional," Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez said of Francoeur, who entered Tuesday with one hit in 12 at-bats.
With the Dodgers starting a left-handed pitcher -- former Brave Alex Wood -- Francoeur took advantage of what was just his third start of the season. The veteran outfielder fueled a two-run first inning when he drilled a bases-loaded sacrifice fly to right field. He then contributed to a two-run third inning with a single and teamed with Tyler Flowers to notch consecutive two-out RBI singles in the fourth.

Francoeur has already determined that the Braves could end up facing four left-handed pitchers during this eight-game homestand and thus he will get more playing time than he had during the season's first two weeks. His next assignment could come on Thursday afternoon, when the Dodgers will start ace Clayton Kershaw.
"It's nice to get some at-bats like this and know that Thursday we've got another one and you can get in a groove," Francoeur said. "So, it definitely felt good to be able to get out there tonight and play."
