Suzuki takes Harvey deep to extend HR surge

MLB.com @mlbbowman

ATLANTA -- Braves catcher Kurt Suzuki added to Matt Wisler's early lead and extended last season's unexpected power surge when he homered in the first inning of a 12-4 victory over the Mets on Thursday night at SunTrust Park.

Suzuki turned on Matt Harvey's 2-2 changeup and watched it sail over the left-field wall for a two-run homer that gave the Braves a 3-0 lead. The Braves had tallied their first run on a sacrifice fly by Freddie Freeman, who had exited Wednesday's game against the Phillies after his previously fractured left wrist was struck by a pitch.
