Suzuki takes Harvey deep to extend HR surge

ATLANTA -- Braves catcher added to 's early lead and extended last season's unexpected power surge when he homered in the first inning of a 12-4 victory over the Mets on Thursday night at SunTrust Park.
Suzuki turned on Matt Harvey's 2-2 changeup and watched it sail over the left-field wall for a two-run homer that gave the Braves a 3-0 lead. The Braves had tallied their first run on a sacrifice fly by Freddie Freeman, who had exited Wednesday's game against the Phillies after his previously fractured left wrist was struck by a pitch.

Suzuki has homered three times through his first 38 at-bats (12.7 AB/HR) this year, and 18 times in 201 at-bats (11.7 AB/HR) dating back to July 1. He hit 16 homers over 1,230 at-bats (76.9 AB/HR) from 2014-16.
Suzuki added a double down the left-field line in the third inning as the Mets continued to pounce on Harvey.
