A series of 16 exhibition games will be played between teams comprised of each MLB organization’s top prospects, creating a new touchpoint on the baseball calendar that celebrates our sport’s budding talent.

Which position player prospects are expected to play?

BRAVES
Nacho Alvarez and Drake Baldwin are the top position-player prospects scheduled to play for the Braves. Alvarez ranks as Atlanta’s No. 6 prospect after just one full professional season. The skilled hitter has a third baseman’s frame, but he has continued to prove he can play the shortstop position. Baldwin ranks as the Braves’ No. 11 prospect. He has a capable bat, but his greatest strides have been made behind the plate.

RED SOX
Each of Boston’s top three prospects, Marcelo Mayer, Roman Anthony and Kyle Teel are scheduled to participate. Mayer ranks as baseball’s No. 15 prospect and the game’s No. 5 shortstop. Anthony ranks as the No. 24 prospect in baseball and No. 10 outfielder. Teel stands as MLB's No. 40 prospect and the No. 5 catcher.

Which pitching prospects are expected to play?

BRAVES

Spencer Schwellenbach (the Braves' No. 3 prospect) and Owen Murphy (No. 5) are the top two pitching prospects scheduled to pitch for Atlanta. Schwellenbach is still relatively raw. The Braves selected him in the second round of the 2021 MLB Draft despite the fact he only pitched one season at the University of Nebraska. He missed 2022 while recovering from Tommy John surgery and then posted a 2.49 ERA while totaling 16 starts with Single-A Augusta and High-A Rome last year. Murphy, the Braves’ first-round pick in 2022, posted a 4.72 ERA over a combined 21 starts for those same affiliates last year.

RED SOX

Right-handers Wikelman Gonzalez (Boston's No. 7 prospect) and Richard Fitts (No. 12) are the top ranked pitchers expected to appear for the Red Sox. Gonzalez posted a 2.42 ERA and produced a 31.8% strikeout rate over 10 starts after being promoted to Double-A Portland in July. Fitts was acquired from the Yankees in the Alex Verdugo trade this past winter. He posted a 3.48 ERA in 27 starts with Double-A Somerset last year.

Why are certain top prospects not listed on the rosters?

If you don’t see a top prospect on your favorite team’s roster, it is likely because they fall into one of two categories. They are either still in big league camp and battling for a roster spot, or the player is injured or has an injury concern.
