What to know about Braves Spring Training

ATLANTA -- Brian Snitker enjoyed the chance to get away and bask in the Hawaiian sun in January. But the Braves’ skipper is ready to get back to work and welcome his talented squad to Spring Training.

Here are some Spring Training questions you might have about the Braves as they prepare to battle for a sixth straight National League East crown.

When is the first workout for pitchers and catchers?
World Baseball Classic participants: Pitchers and catchers report Feb. 13 and position players on Feb. 16.

Non-WBC participants: Pitchers and catchers report Feb. 15 and position players on Feb. 20.

What is the date of the first full-squad workout?
Feb. 21

Where is the team’s facility?
The Braves will be back at CoolToday Park, their Spring Training home since 2020. The facility is located near Venice and Englewood, a pair of beach towns located on Florida's west coast.

Can fans attend workouts?
Fans will have access to the back fields beginning on Feb. 20 at 9 a.m. ET. Entry will be granted through Gate 3 or the Green Gate.

Before Feb. 20, Gate 3 will open at 11 a.m. for fans who want to watch any activity on the main field.

Who are some new faces fans should know?
C was acquired from Oakland to team with Travis d’Arnaud and give the Braves arguably MLB’s best catching duo.

RHP brings an impressive strikeout rate from Detroit to Atlanta’s bullpen.

OFs , Eli White, and Jordan Luplow will all compete to begin the season as a backup outfielder.

LHP comes from the Yankees with a chance to add another southpaw to Atlanta’s bullpen. The other top lefty relief candidates are A.J. Minter and Dylan Lee.

Who are some of the top prospects invited to Major League camp?
This year’s big league camp will include left-hander Jared Shuster, who is ranked the Braves’ No. 1 prospect per MLB Pipeline. Shuster will spend the next few weeks giving the Braves a better feel for how close he might be to being MLB-ready. He posted a 3.29 ERA while combining to make 27 appearances (25 starts) for Double-A Mississippi and Triple-A Gwinnett last year.

Which players will be participating in the World Baseball Classic?

Ronald Acuña Jr. (Venezuela) gained clearance to play, and fellow outfielder Eddie Rosario (Puerto Rico) will also participate. The Braves will also spend a portion of Spring Training without Chadwick Tromp (Netherlands), who will likely begin the upcoming season with Triple-A Gwinnett.

Other players from the Braves system who could participate include RHP Yacksel Ríos (Puerto Rico), LHP Luis De Avila (Colombia), RHP Roel Ramirez (Mexico) and RHP Alan Rangel (Mexico). De Avila, Ramirez and Rangel are part of the designated pitcher pool for their respective teams, meaning they may not be placed on the active roster unless needed during the tournament.

What are a few other notable spring games?
The Braves will host the Yankees (March 5), Red Sox (March 7), the Dominican Republic (March 8) and Puerto Rico (March 9) during the exhibition season’s second full week.
