VIERA, Fla. -- The Braves have been encouraged by the way Freddie Freeman's wrist has responded throughout Spring Training. But to gain some more attractive insurance for this season, they sent Nate Freiman to the Nationals in exchange for Tyler Moore on Sunday.
This essentially could prove to be nothing more than a swap of Minor League first basemen. But in the event that Freeman's wrist proves to be problematic for a second straight season, then the Braves believe Moore would be a better long-term option at first base than Freiman.

Both Moore and Freiman will be sent to Minor League camp when they join their new organization.
Moore was outrighted to Triple-A Syracuse on Friday, after he had passed through waivers. The 29-year-old veteran has batted .228 with 24 homers in 601 at-bats at the Major League level. Two of the four hits he recorded in 31 Grapefruit League at-bats with the Nationals this spring were home runs.
Freiman has batted .256 with nine home runs in 301 at-bats at the big league level. The 6-foot-8, 29-year-old first baseman recorded three hits in 25 Grapefruit League at-bats for the Braves before being sent to Minor League camp earlier this month.
