Rockies name Brett Pill new hitting coach

DENVER — The Colorado Rockies announced today that they have named Brett Pill the club’s Major League hitting coach. Pill joins Pitching Coach Alon Leichman, Assistant Pitching Coach Gabe Ribas, and Bullpen Coach Matt Buschmann as part of Manager Warren Schaeffer’s staff.

Pill comes to the Rockies after six seasons in the Los Angeles Dodgers organization, most recently serving as the Minor League hitting coordinator from 2023–25 following three seasons (2020–22) as a Minor League hitting coach. Prior to his time with the Dodgers, he spent three seasons (2017–19) as an international scout for the Kia Tigers of the KBO.

The San Dimas, Calif., native was selected by the San Francisco Giants in the seventh round of the First-Year Player Draft out of Cal State Fullerton. He played 11 professional seasons as an infielder and outfielder, including parts of three Major League seasons with the San Francisco Giants from 2011-13, appearing in 48 games during the Giants’ 2012 World Series Championship season. He ended his playing career with Kia, slashing .316/.362/.521 over 367 games from 2014-16.
