Brewers' MiLB managerial chain shuffling in 2024

January 25th, 2024

MILWAUKEE -- Mike Guerrero’s move to roving infield instructor after 26 seasons as a Minor League manager and 1,445 regular-season victories created a domino effect in Milwaukee’s system, with new skippers at three of the organization's four full-season affiliates.

Joe Ayrault will succeed Guerrero at the helm of Double-A Biloxi as he heads into his 15th season managing in Milwaukee’s Minor League chain, and Victor Estevez, last year’s Carolina League manager of the year, has been bumped up to replace Ayrault at High-A Wisconsin. That opened Single-A Carolina for Nick Stanley, who had been bench coach at Biloxi.

Other notable changes in the system:

• Spencer Allen, the high-energy former head baseball coach at Northwestern, has been promoted to director of player development after spending last season as field coordinator and outfield and baserunning instructor. He joined the organization in 2022 as assistant field coordinator.

• With Charlie Greene’s promotion to the Major League staff as bullpen coach, the Brewers hired Dallas Correa as catching coordinator. Correa comes to the organization after two seasons on the coaching staff at the University of Hawai’i.

• As hitting coach for the Rookie-level Arizona Complex League Brewers, Luisa Gauci becomes the organization’s first female coach assigned to an affiliate. She discussed the opportunity with MLB.com earlier this month.

• Eric Theisen has been promoted to be Triple-A Nashville’s hitting coach but will also continue in his previous role as the organization’s assistant hitting coordinator.

• Juan Sandoval has been promoted to assistant pitching coordinator after spending his first two seasons in the organization as a pitching coach in the Dominican Republic, and Manuel Vargas (director of Latin America operations) and Juan De Leon (coordinator of Latin America operations) were promoted to new roles at the team’s Dominican Academy last February. The Brewers invested north of $20 million in their new academy, which held a grand opening last week with Brewers owner Mark Attanasio and Dominican Republic president Luis Abinader.
