Brewers Draft Recap: Get to Know the Top Selections

Four Brewers Draft Picks to Know

July 27th, 2022

The 2022 MLB First-Year Player Draft was held in Los Angeles at the onset of All-Star Weekend earlier this month.

For the Brewers, it was an opportunity to infuse more young talent into their farm system, as they made four selections within the first 102 picks.

With the deadline to sign draft picks quickly approaching on August 1, it’s time to look at some of the Brewers top selections in the 2022 MLB Draft.

Eric Brown Jr.

With the 27th pick in the first round, the Brewers made Eric Brown Jr. the highest draft selection in Coastal Carolina’s history

An all-star in the Cape Cod League, the shortstop demonstrated elite plate vision and discipline throughout his college career. With the help of his whopping .460 OBP in 2022, the infielder racked up a .932 OPS in three collegiate seasons.

Brown flashed solid defensive tools and versatility throughout college, providing above-average defense while playing both middle-infield positions and third base at times.

On top of his elite on-base ability, Brown showed prowess on the basepaths as well, swiping 12 bags during the season.

Jacob Misiorowski

The Brewers second-round pick made a name for himself as one of the most dominant pitchers at the junior college level this past season.

The 6-foot-7 right-hander pairs a slider with an above-average fastball. His heater has clocked in at up to 100 mph and regularly sits in the mid-90s.

Thanks to his impressive stuff, Misiorowski struck out 136 batters this past season, ranking third among NJCAA Division I pitchers. The starter also limited the longball, surrendering just three home runs across 76 innings pitched.

Misiorowski’s profile fits right into the mold of the organization’s pitchers, as the Brewers currently rank third in all of MLB in strikeouts this season.

Robert Moore

The Brewers drafted Moore, a middle infielder out of Arkansas, with the 72nd overall selection during Competitive Balance Round B.

The former Razorback hit .264 in his collegiate career. But like most position players in the Brewers 2022 Draft class, he demonstrated a strong eye at the plate with an impressive .381 on-base percentage during three years of college ball.

Continuing another Brewers draft trend, Moore shined defensively as well this past season, as he was awarded a Rawlings Gold Glove Award for his efforts in the field.

On top of being named a premier defender in the NCAA, Moore was crowned “Big Game Bob” by his Arkansas teammates for his consistent clutch gene – a testament to his touted baseball instincts.

Dylan O’Rae

The Brewers drafted Canada’s 2022 Player of the Year with the 102nd overall pick.

The lefty from Sarnia, Ontario, spent much of 2022 with the Canadian Junior National Team, where he posted a .257/.464/.343 slash line in 25 games against professional competition.

Getting on base at an elite .464 clip allowed O’Rae to flex one of his most dangerous tools: his blazing speed. He swiped 17 bags on his way to scoring a team-leading 26 runs for the Junior National Team

The former Illinois commit will look to bring his elite speed and keen eye to the next level in the Brewers system.
