With I-94 construction projects underway, plan ahead for your trip to ballpark in '26

PHOENIX -- It’s like Google Maps, built just for Brewers fans.

And it’s coming to American Family Field this season.

With neighboring Interstate 94 in the midst of a major, multiyear makeover, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation and the Brewers are working together to make travel to and from ballgames as easy as possible in 2026. One tool is especially novel: A new, dedicated WisDOT website designed to serve as a central hub for recommended routes.

Fans can find it via Brewers.com/traffic. The interactive site will include routes to and from each lot from all directions, highlighting alternate routes to keep traffic flowing. Fans can also find the site through QR codes throughout American Family Field, and it will appear in the MLB Ballpark App.

In addition to that digital tool, the Brewers will fund three extra-duty Sheriff squads to help manage outbound event traffic, further supporting WisDOT's existing traffic mitigation efforts. The Brewers will also pay for an onsite tow service to quickly clear stalled vehicles or accidents from traffic lanes, helping keep vehicles moving whenever possible.

“Fans are encouraged to plan ahead, allow extra travel time and check available travel resources before leaving home,” said Jason Roselle, WisDOT’s southeast freeways construction chief.

The first set of traffic pattern adjustments will take effect next week, when eastbound Interstate 94 reopens to three lanes, providing added capacity for fans traveling to and from the ballpark. All ramps at the General Mitchell Interchange adjacent to American Family Field will be open for home games.

“We are working closely with the Department of Transportation to make sure fans have the information and support they need,” said Brewers president of business operations Rick Schlesinger. “We’re committed to doing our part to make sure the fan experience in arriving and leaving the ballpark is convenient, efficient and safe.”

The Brewers are installing enhanced signage showing alternate routes to better direct traffic, and the team said it will continue to explore creative ways to help manage postgame departures based on fan feedback. Those efforts may include optional postgame experiences for fans to allow for what the club called, “progressive egress.”

Translation: Don’t hesitate to retrieve the lawn chairs from your tailgate, have a seat under the stars and debate that critical seventh-inning pitching change.

As for arrivals, the Brewers will continue using the license plate recognition system implemented two seasons ago, which officials say helps streamline entry once fans arrive on site. Even with efficient parking operations, fans are advised to allow extra time due to construction along Interstate 94 and nearby roadways.

Additional information can be found at the WisDOT traffic website before and after games. Fans can also visit 511wi.gov for maps and real-time traffic information.
