MILWAUKEE -- After addressing the starting rotation just before Christmas, it appears the Brewers' bullpen is next on general manager David Stearns' to-do list.

FOX Sports San Antonio recently reported that the club was in agreement with free-agent reliever Boone Logan on an unspecified contract, pending a physical exam. A baseball source told MLB.com that the sides were engaged, and said the matter should be resolved after baseball operations resume following the holiday break. The club has not confirmed the talks.

Logan, 33 and a veteran of 12 Major League seasons, was limited to 38 games with the Indians in 2017 because of a lat injury. But he averaged 56 appearances in the 10 previous seasons, and he has held left-handed hitters to a .234 average in his career.

Logan would be the Brewers' first notable addition to a bullpen anchored by closer Corey Knebel. The club made a two-year offer to setup man Anthony Swarzak, who was solid down the stretch on the way to free agency, but he signed with the Mets for more money. Swarzak's departure followed that of Jared Hughes and Carlos Torres, who combined to pitch 132 1/3 innings last season, but were due raises in arbitration. Hughes has since signed a two-year deal with the Reds.

If Logan signs a Major League contract, the Brewers would have to clear a spot on their full 40-man roster.
