MILWAUKEE -- Former A's infielder Eric Sogard was among three more players added the Brewers' Major League Spring Training roster on Thursday after signing Minor League contracts.
In addition to Sogard, Milwaukee signed left-hander Andy Oliver and re-signed right-hander Hiram Burgos, a former top Brewers prospect who will be entering his ninth season in the organization.
All three have played in the Majors, but 30-year-old Sogard has by far the most experience. A versatile infielder who primarily has appeared at second base, Sogard logged 1,331 plate appearances for Oakland from 2010-15, hitting .239/.295/.313. He was limited to seven plate appearances at the advanced Class A level in '16 after being placed on the disabled list with the end of Spring Training with a cervical strain, then undergoing left knee surgery in late April.
Oliver, 29, was a second-round Draft pick of the Tigers in 2009 out of Oklahoma State, and had brief stints in the big leagues for Detroit in 2010 and '11, totaling five starts. In the Minors, he has a 3.98 ERA in 223 games including 108 starts, having converted to relief in 2014 while pitching in the Pirates' system. He split the '16 season between the rotation and bullpen for Baltimore's Triple-A club, posting a 3.43 ERA in 86 2/3 innings.
Burgos was the Brewers' sixth-round Draft pick in 2009 and shot up prospect lists in '12, when he was 10-4 with a 1.95 ERA and reached the Triple-A level in his age-24 season. He starred in the World Baseball Classic for Puerto Rico the following spring and debuted in the Majors before being derailed with a shoulder injury that cost him the second half of '13 and necessitated surgery in '14.

Burgos has been healthy for each of the past two seasons and was 10-10 with a 4.40 ERA at Triple-A Colorado Springs in 2016. He had been pitching for Mayaguez in the Puerto Rican Winter League, with a 2.25 ERA through seven starts.
