Stearns expects action as Meetings open

December 4th, 2016

NATIONAL HARBOR, Md. -- Brewers general manager David Stearns is expecting a lot of action when the Winter Meetings get underway Monday just outside Washington, D.C.
MLB.com is on the ground for baseball's annual offseason showcase, and just like last year, when Stearns traded first baseman to the Mariners for three teenage pitchers, the Brewers are open for business. Outfielder , starting pitcher and closer are among the myriad of players in whom other clubs have expressed interest.
Trade Braun? Choice may be key at Meetings
"I would say that we're active in a number of different discussions," Stearns said. "In the last week, the amount of talk among clubs has accelerated -- even more so with the completion of the [Collective Bargaining Agreement] negotiations. I anticipate it's going to be a very busy week for the entire industry. I imagine there are going to be a number of player moves, both free-agent signings and trades.
"We're going to do our work to see if there are things we can do to improve the team and improve our young talent."
