MILWAUKEE -- Make it four Rawlings Gold Glove Awards in a row for Zack Greinke, meaning that Brewers right-hander Zach Davies and the rest of the National League's pitchers will have to try again next year.
Davies and Braves knuckleballer R.A. Dickey were finalists for the Gold Glove Award for NL pitchers, but it once again went to D-backs ace Greinke.
The results, based on a system that combine statistical analysis with votes from managers and coaches, were announced Tuesday night.

Those metrics do not offer much when it comes to pitchers, but there is Defensive Runs Saved, which rates players by runs above or below average at their position. Of the three NL pitchers named finalists, Dickey was best in that stat at seven runs above average, followed by Davies at plus-six and Greinke at plus-four. The Rockies' Tyler Chatwood actually led the way at plus-nine.
Coming off a season in which he went 17-9 with a 3.90 ERA and tied for the NL lead with 33 starts, Davies was bidding to be the first Brewers pitcher to win a Gold Glove.

Only one Brewers player has won a Gold Glove in the past 35 years: Center fielder Carlos Gomez in 2013. Before that, no Milwaukee player had won since shortstop Robin Yount in 1982, when the Brewers were coming off the World Series.
This year's Gold Glove Awards represent just one way the game's top performers will be recognized. Voting is also underway now for the Esurance MLB Awards, which annually honor MLB's greatest achievements as part of an industry-wide balloting process.
MLB Awards season will culminate on Friday, Nov. 17, when winners are announced live on MLB Network and MLB.com starting at 7 p.m. CT.
