JUPITER, Fla. -- Brian McCann connected on a two-run homer and Jose Altuve collected an RBI double on Tuesday as the Astros defeated the Marlins, 7-3, at Roger Dean Stadium. Giancarlo Stanton belted a home run for Miami.
The game featured a pair of already-announced Opening Day starters. Dallas Keuchel threw 4 2/3 innings in his final tuneup, giving up three runs with four strikeouts. Miami's Edinson Volquez worked five frames, also allowing three runs.
The Astros struck quickly in the first inning, when McCann belted a two-out, two-run homer. The Marlins responded with two runs in the second. Stanton sent a 2-2 pitch over the left-field wall, and Volquez helped his cause with a two-out RBI single.
"You're trying to take it easy, but at the same time, you are playing hard," Volquez said of getting up for his final spring start. "You've got to be careful, whether you're running the bases or whatever you're doing on the field, especially now when you've got four more days. You don't want to get anyone hurt."
Marcell Ozuna gave the Marlins a brief 3-2 advantage with an RBI double in the third before Altuve's game-tying RBI double in the fifth.
